Funded degree and UC

Hi,
I have been accepted onto a paid masters degree course. It has full time placements so I won't have time to do much else apart from the odd bank shift at the weekend.

I think I may be entitled to UC to help with childcare costs as the charity bursary is 18k per year and it's a 7K drop in income.
However all the calculators online state that they are not set up to work out student UC. I won't get a student loan as it's my second degree and I get a bursary. I don't know if I will get anything, if I put 18k into the calculator and add £100 per week childcare costs I get a certain amount per month but is that different if the 18k isn't taxed (and I put it in as if it were an income as the pre-tax amount).

There’s a private Facebook group called universal credit survival. Join that, read the announcements for what info they need and ask for a calculation on there. It looks really helpful

@Coffeellama thanks, I think I'm a bit scared as they overpaid me by 2k before and I'm still paying it back. It's a stupid system, there's no automatic yes or no. You just have to submit your childcare costs and they say yes or no on a monthly basis.

To be honest I don’t think UC will help with childcare costs while you are studying anyway as they say the university should, but I’m no expert on it at all. But theyl carry on taking back overpayment from your universal credit automatically and they can only take a certain amount each month so that may work out ok.
