AIBU to want boots that fit my wide calves? 👢

That's it really! I'm a size 18 with big legs. I recently bought a dress that would be lovely with long boots (boots that go to below the knee, so basically not ankle boots)! But none fit over my calves. Any suggestions?

Look at Erica Davies boots at John Lewis. Specifically designed for just this.

Roundthebend45 · 14/01/2023 07:16

Also try Duo boots duoboots.com

Theh are pricy, but you can specify your exact calf measurement so they fit perfectly. I’ve had two pairs from them as I have big feet but slim calves, so they do a very wide range of sizes. Lovely good quality leather too!

I get mine from Very/Simply Be/JD Williams. (They're all the same company). Their boots come in a variety of calf sizes.

Placemarking as I struggle with this: have always had wide calves.

NoNewsIsGoodNews · 14/01/2023 07:21

Duo has every size. I have the smallest calf size there and don’t even think my calves are that thin. So there will definitely be a size for you as there is a big size range. Enjoy shopping!!

Lose some bitch. Honestly, you’ll feel so much better without carrying all that nastiness around in your little mind.

I don’t think weight is the issue. I am thin but still struggle with finding long boots that fit.
….and it’s not a very kind or supportive thing to say

Duo are great. For cheaper options, you could look at stretchy material ones (Hobbes used to do some good ones, although not necessarily much cheaper than Duo!) or styles with elastic panels or buckles that can be loosened.

It takes frustratingly little to be too wide of calf for standard boots. I have several friends with the same issue, of varying body shapes.

Really? You do realise that when women like me with bigger calves lose weight we don’t lose it there?
I got down to below 10 stone - still had chunky calves, always have done.
OP - thanks for this thread, very helpful. I’ve noted the brand names …

It's not always a matter of weight
Even when I was a teen and only a size 10 I couldn't find boots to fit my calf. Some people have muscular legs!

Sausagenbacon · 14/01/2023 08:21

Thanks for the thread. I have the same issue.
