I have a friend that loves them and would happily see the same band more than once or see bands she's not a massive fan of. Me on the other hand would only really go if I really liked the singer but i wouldn't be fussed if I missed it either

PacificallyRequested · 13/01/2023 16:07

Not really. I only go if it's a band/singer I really like and even then I stand right at the back.

KrisAkabusi · 13/01/2023 16:18

Yes. There's nothing better than a live gig. I've seen loads of bands multiple times, and its great when you see someone you're not familiar with and discover you like their music.

YungDumbThrills · 13/01/2023 16:21

I see gigs/concerts as my hobby. For me there's no better feeling than getting lost in live music. I've seen the same artists multiple times (one band 39 times) and I never get bored. Everybody is different though, and some just don't get the enjoyment that I would from a gig 😊

NancyJoan · 13/01/2023 16:21

No. Too hot, hate the crowded bit when coming out, always need the loo half way through.

Snowglobules · 13/01/2023 16:23

I do like them and used to go often but find they are very expensive now and often in massive carpark like auditoriums which you need a telescope to see the band. Its also often hard to get tickets as people buy them up to resell at higher prices. I've kind of given up. I did go and see smaller bands but my gig going buddy is deep in the trenches of little kidsville so they aren't often free so its a rare thing now. DH is only interested in seeing bands he really likes and is less keen due to prices, poor venues and covid.

Aphrathestorm · 13/01/2023 16:26

No I'd never go again unless it was something exceptional like a Britney return tour.

I especially hate stadium gigs. I'd rather stay home and listen to the CD.

They are crazy expensive, you get cold and wet. There's loads of boring waiting around. It's not safe. You have no personal space. The foods seagull and overpriced. Acts with big catalogs do rubbish new songs I don't know when what I want are the old favourites. I think they're all on an ego trip. You are so far away the people on stage could be body doubles. The sound quality's not even any good.

HangoverSquare · 13/01/2023 16:26

I love a smaller gig. Wouldn't bother going to a massive arena concert. Unless it was Kate Bush or someone really special.

yaflouloci · 13/01/2023 16:28

I enjoy live music but at events like festivals, local gigs etc

I dislike large concerts because of the size of venues. It's too mainstream and not intimate enough.

IntentionalError · 13/01/2023 16:29

Yes, as long as the venue is a sensible size. I’m not a big fan of arena or stadium gigs as you can be so far from the stage that you may as well watch it on the telly. Seeing a band in a massive football stadium in the middle of summer when the entire show takes place in broad daylight makes it difficult to get a decent atmosphere.

MrsApplepants · 13/01/2023 16:31

No, too many other people spoiling things and too much hassle

bluesuitcase · 13/01/2023 16:37

No, I enjoyed them when younger but haven’t been to a concert for years and don’t miss them. There are a couple of bands I’d possibly make an exception for, but with prices as they are nowadays I’d rather spend my money on other things.

takealettermsjones · 13/01/2023 16:40

Love them! Nothing better than a good mosh pit 😃

Beamur · 13/01/2023 16:42

Nope. I never really have enjoyed them. I dislike standing and always get bored before the end and want to go home. They're just not my thing.
I enjoy the theatre and cinema.

Thepeopleversuswork · 13/01/2023 16:45

I love them as a rule and will usually enjoy them even if it’s a band/artist I’m not fussed about. I love the live experience.

But I also feel so fleeced by the whole experience. It just feels a licence to print money.

dotdotdotdash · 13/01/2023 16:45

I see a lot of live music, but agree with @Aphrathestorm about stadium gigs and never go to those. I prefer small clubs and pubs or outdoors (campfire gigs or festivals) as I don't have that much money to splash on tickets and I like to be up close to the band and in a nice environment. I don't mind getting squashed or hot - that's part of the fun for me.

Msgrieves · 13/01/2023 16:47

I do enjoy them, not that arsed anymore about missing out though. Seen most of my favourites, although would happily go and see most bands unless I truly hated them. Seen many a prog band for example zzzzzzz

coralgeo · 13/01/2023 16:49

No, I actively dislike them. I've been to quite a few but never take much enjoyment.

I've tried to analyse why. I love music but I want to hear the songs the way I know them to sound, not live and sounding different. I think I'm probably neurodivergent so maybe that has something to do with it.

theshadeofgreen · 13/01/2023 16:49

Literally my absolute favourite thing to do.

I need to know which band you've seen 39 times!!

Ohgoodyanotherone · 13/01/2023 16:56

Bloody love them. Not too keen on arena or stadium gigs though....but I would go for the right band.

ClubhouseGift · 13/01/2023 16:56

Yes, the atmosphere is amazing.

Ponoka7 · 13/01/2023 16:59

Used to love them. These days I need a seat and to be fairly warm, so the fashion for outside venues means I can't go.

Hobbesmanc · 13/01/2023 17:00

Never understood the attraction. I tried when I was a student. But I'm unlikely to ever chose to go to one again unless it was maybe outdoors with a picnic etc lol. Same with festivals. Mind you I only listen to very limited music anyway. I'd rather read a book

Ambertonix · 13/01/2023 17:00

Yes, i bloody love them! Live for them in fact. There is nothing nicer than standing (or sitting!) with like minded people and belting out songs that everyone knows the words to. Ive only booked 2 so far this year but as it is only January, im expecting a few more before the year is done.

OldTinHat · 13/01/2023 17:06

I like to see an artist i really like once but wouldn't go multiple times. I do enjoy festivals though and am lucky enough to live within walking distance of the first one of the year. I prefer that, lots of diversity and seeing performers who turn out to be excellent when normally I'd be a bit 'meh' about seeing.
