Do you like concerts?

I have a friend that loves them and would happily see the same band more than once or see bands she's not a massive fan of. Me on the other hand would only really go if I really liked the singer but i wouldn't be fussed if I missed it either

I love a concert! Last went to four weeks ago and next one booked in three weeks

Yes. There's nothing better than a live gig. I've seen loads of bands multiple times, and its great when you see someone you're not familiar with and discover you like their music.

This, completely!

Not really as I don't like crowds. A festival (with addition of mud, tents, and squalid lavatory facilities) is my idea of hell. Even when I was in my 20s.

We go to a festival in November at a nearby Butlins...it's great, no tents, no mud and the toilets are definitely not squalid. Festivals such as Glastonbury (which is close enough for us to qualify for discounted tickets), hold no interest for me though.

otherwayup · 14/01/2023 11:19

I started going to gigs aged 15 and at 52 I haven't stopped!
I spent my 20s going to Glastonbury and ended up returning in my 30s with my kids.
I've been to so many venues up and down the country, it's a brilliant way of discovering a new town or city.

I still love going down the front at gigs and nothing beats that feeling of hearing and seeing your favourite songs live, surrounded by people who feel the same.
My 2 dc loved coming to festivals and both have grown up with a love of music and now go independently to gigs (so far we haven't had a clash but now their older they say they wouldn't mind bumping into mum down the front!)

Love the idea hate the actual event. I don't like noise or crowds and I get bored of things after 20 min even if I'm really enjoying, i just count down to it being over.

Holy cow I thought this was just me.

Especially post covid.

Asking me if I like concerts/gigs is akin to asking if I like music - yes, but only by the bands or singers I like! I'm going to four gigs in March, all the same singer, and I'm really looking forward to them. I've seen him twice previously, and watched clips of other gigs on YT. He always gives it his all, so I know I'll have a good night. They'll be small, "intimate" affairs with probably no more than 200/250 in the audience, with him chatting to us in between songs, which is nice.

At a non seated (which is 9/10 of them) gig i always get there early enough to stand at the very front. I'm a short arse (5' 1") so can't see over people's heads, and besides, being in the midst of a crowd of people gives me the heebie jeebies. I can cope with it if I can't see them though iyswim.

As for complaining about gigs being too loud to be able to talk - wtf? You're not meant to bloody talk, you're meant to listen to the music! People chatting at gigs - as in when the act is actually playing, not between songs - are the bane of any music lovers' lives - we didn't pay to hear you gabbing. I've twice - once on a video on YT, the other when I was actually there - seen the singer I'm going to see stop a song dead and call out the CFs who've been talking during it. It's just him with a mike and an amplified acoustic guitar, in a small venue, so it's so obvious and intrusive when someone is talking. What's worse is that said CFs then start arguing back, as if, rather than acknowledging how rude and ignorant they've been, they're somehow justified! Some people!

Yes. It's a great experience. I don't mind stadiums but smaller ones like o2 academies are my favourite.

Hey, this sounds a bit cheeky asking but i’ve been trying to get the pink summer carnival tickets for glasgow in 2024, however when i’ve went on to pop in my presale code it hasn’t worked and now it’s saying my presale code has expired…by any chance does anyone on here have a presale code i could try? xx

feellikeanalien · 29/11/2023 21:37

Love them. Been to all sorts from stadium gigs to ones in pubs. Now taking DD to some too.

Started when I was 14 and still really enjoy going many many years later!

LBFseBrom · 29/11/2023 21:39

I don't go to concerts now, can't be bothered and can often see them on TV. However when I was younger I absolutely loved concerts and went to loads of them. I wouldn't have missed that for the world.

TitInATrance · 29/11/2023 21:48

Love live music and go two or three times a week - folk, jazz, rock. Pubs, smaller venues and festivals - I’m too claustrophobic for stadium gigs and I prefer to sit down nowadays.

HaveSomeIntrospect · 29/11/2023 21:52

I hate small ‘intimate’ gigs, it makes me really uncomfortable. The same goes with comedy.
ive been to the o2 a few times And really enjoyed it

Blipeuy · 29/11/2023 21:52

I used to but people filming constantly has put me off.

BeyondMyWits · 29/11/2023 21:58

We've started going to local mini orchestral concerts... ones where they play film music or rock songs. Seated, town hall or conference type venue, 90minutes to 2hrs long, start at 7.30... home for 10pm.

Band gigs in a stadium... noooooooo, not for me.

jammylamy · 29/11/2023 22:07

I do enjoy them and used to go a lot but they are increasingly expensive. I've seen some great ones but a couple of years ago I paid a lot of money for two tickets to see Bjork and while she was amazing, the concert was in a huge venue which felt a bit like a multi story carpark with seats and it just seemed so cold, impersonal and distant. Many of the acts I'd like to see seem to play that venue these days (I suppose it makes sense from their point of view) but I wouldn't pay to see anyone perform there again and it is pretty universally hated. In my city one of the best smaller venues burned down a few years ago as well.

Start your own thread maybe rather than resurrecting a zombie one, you might get more luck

fruitbrewhaha · 29/11/2023 22:14

Love gigs and will happily see the same band over and over. It’s a good night out.

diyprojectnumber538 · 14/12/2023 21:25

Literally my favourite thing to do.
