To think easyJet lied and ripped me off?

I flew with easyJet today. I had one cabin bag. Checked and double checked it was within the guidelines. Looked up the bag manufacturer to confirm. Went to the airport. It fit in the cage at check in but at the gate I was told it was oversized and I wouldn’t be able to board unless I paid £40.

I got to my destination and checked again and it fits perfectly! Customer service has been non existent and I am genuinely fuming.

I honestly think they used a smaller bag cage at the gate.

Pictures of said bag fitting with room to spare attached. (She said hopefully.)

Have you got a photo of your bag in the cage it did not fit in?

I don’t know why people are arguing with you op! You clearly have it right.

This. The OP’s bag fitted into their free carry-on size requirement.

All the cages are in line with the airline's branding. It's definitely EJ, because it's orange. RA ones are blue/yellow.

I think the one in the pic is from check in, where her bag did fit. The one at the gate, which did not fit, has not been pictured as far as I can see

Because the implication is that EJ have a different, even smaller cage than their published sizes, to fraudulently charge people at gate.

The alternative is OP got mixed up by EJs (deliberately) confusing array of permitted bags, paid for the smallest in her ticket, was checked at check in in the bigger carry on cage & assumed all was fine, then was checked in the correct under seat cage at the gate, and charged.

@EzyJetSux call them out on Twitter, most of these companies seems to respond far better that way.

I always worry about the hand luggage thing, no matter what airline I fly with, so I opt for a squashy bag that goes over my shoulder rather than any kind of trolley bag.

My DD once flew back from Spain with Ryanair, and when I met her at the airport, I was shocked at her apparent weight gain. But no, it was because she was wearing two pairs of leggings under two pairs of joggers, 3 t-shirts under two sweatshirts with a cardigan and jacket over the top. Her carry on luggage had been deemed to be 2.5kg too heavy so she undid it and put on everything she could wear. Grin That was years ago though, when carry on bags had to weigh something like 5kg.

We had this recently, case fitted in on outward journey but on the return journey the cage appeared to have metal clips inside and the case didn’t fit, the plane was boarding already and we questioned this but the attendant got all shitty and said she would off load us if we didn’t pay. We paid , as did other passengers as we needed to get home. We took photos of the cage and forwarded to easyJet when we got back. Got our money back. Yes Ibiza easyJet staff your scam has been reported!!!

Not sure many people on this thread realise how ridiculous it sounds to call some of the companies rip off while still flying with them😂
Put your wallet where your mouth is and atop using them then!

I would rather fly with a proper airline than fly with those cowboys.. They are notorious for their rip off rules.
