Shamelessly posting here.

I've posted a number of times under a different name. I've been suffering with heart problems for 5 months and kept being fobbed off in hospital as panic attacks and other anxiety related things. It turned out I have long QT syndrome and POTs.
I went to a different hospital 3 days ago as I didn't feel at all well. They did a d-dimer test on me (a clot test) and it came back positive at 635. It's meant to be under 500.

I expressed my concerns as my mum had a stroke young, and I also have heart problems. I was turned away.

I collapsed at home today, and my husband took me to a different hospital as I just didn't trust the hospitals answers. My d-dimer is 2109. They think I've got a blood clot. I'm just waiting on a CT scan and starting me on clot busting drugs.

I'm fucking terrified. I'm 28. I had cancer that very nearly cost me my life at 23. Now these heart problems and now a fucking clot. Due to the collapse they either think chest or head.

What the fuck do I do.
I'm a young mum. I'm so, so scared. I was just waiting in A&E waiting room and they got me on a trolley and I'm now waiting with lots of people around me. Just about to start the blood thinning meds.

Any success stories please I'm terrified.

Also - a massive reminder to anybody, don't let a hospital fob you off. If you know somethings not right, keep pushing. As if I took the previous hospitals advise of 'oh it'll come back down you're not having any chest pain' it may be a different story.

My mum had a stroke at 34, I am so scared.

Hoping everything has gone according to plan.
The dinner menus sound amazing. Hospital, food seems to have improved a lot since I was a patient. I lived on soups and jelly and custard..mind you, having extensive reconstructive to my lower jaw might have had something to do with it, having my jaws wired together didn’t help.

If you like reading, Do you have an iPad or a tablet with you? And Amazon Prime? I have the Kindle app on mine, with Prime I get free downloads of ebooks, I take full advantage. Amazon also have offers of books for 99p.

fuckmylife2023 · 14/01/2023 11:06

Hi everyone.

Well it went a bit Pete tong! They did the op, found the clot and dealt with it (that's the most important bit) but I ended up having 4 seizures during surgery and one shortly after. I woke up with my head in the CT scanner which was more than interesting to say the least!

I was very drowsy and groggy. They have started me on Keppra. I'm non-epileptic and the other hospital thought my seizures were a convulsive syncope due to my heart problems so haven't been on any medications, but the doctors here seem to think otherwise and started me on Keppra straight away. No seizures since.
I'm a bit drowsy and waiting for the ward round doctors. The outreach team came to see me at midnight but I don't remember a lot.

Lovely nurse just bought me a tea and some shortbread and I've just placed my order of chilli jacket and cheese for lunch as I missed the boat last night.

Thank you for all the well wishes! I'm covered in holes and tubes. I had an arterial gas blood this morning which hurt like absolute hell but everybody here is so lovely. There is 1 nurse in particular ever since I came here who has gone above and beyond for me. I need to thank her before I leave. She held my hand in the scanner, she sits on my bed and chats to me. I'm in HDU now so she's not working here today but she pops up every few hours to say hi. She put some moisturiser on my face yesterday and Vaseline on my lips and she is just a real life angel. I've never had care like it.

She has made all of this a lot more tolerable. What an incredible nurse (newly qualified too) that she is. I would like to leave her a little something, I thought about chocolates or biscuits but they have tonnes at the nurses station so any suggestions let me know! There's an M&S here so I'll grab her a card and something from there.

Hope everyone's well on this very misty (from what I can see) Saturday!

Glad to hear it went well despite the seizures. It sounds like you are being well cared for which is great given the stories we hear daily of the NHS being terrible. No-one talks about the fab care they get. Enjoy your jacket potato. It sounds delicious!

Augend23 · 14/01/2023 11:39

I'm sorry there were complications, butt I am so glad you are having great care. I always feel like some nurses seem like angels on earth, and I don't really believe in a god.
