This Packaging Is Ridiculous

I ordered some face primer and a box of ibuprofen from Superdrug and they sent in this large box via Evri.

Surely it would have fitted into a Jiffy envelope?

I don't know why there are two pictures of the same box.

Good grief! What a waste!

Fraine · 11/01/2023 17:19

That is bad but surely you could have picked both of those up on your weekly shop, either in store or online?

What was the need to do a separate order for two items that are available in every supermarket.

You can't buy more than 2 packs online in one go.

DoYou · 11/01/2023 17:21

Superdrug have form for this. I ordered a Tiger Balm which arrived in a similar size box.

Before Christmas I ordered four bottles of vitamins to collect in store. The lady went off to get my order and she came back with four boxes piled so high you couldn't see her head. There was no way I could carry that lot so she suggested I take the contents out of the boxes and leave the packaging for them to recycle.

I live in the middle of nowhere in Scotland. There are no supermarkets nearer than Oban, which is 60 miles away.

And @Fraine none of the supermarkets deliver to our village.

Where I live the Superdrug is tiny and doesn't hold a huge amount of brands and stock so I wouldn't be able to pick them up with my weekly shop.

Such a ridiculous post. How do you know that particular face primer is available in the 'weekly shop' at the supermarket? Not every one gets out to do a weekly shop.

I'm more concerned with how you've hacked open the box 😂

Tbh they're terrible for this, as are Amazon. It's a nightmare! I often wonder if they've just run out of smaller boxes or if it's on purpose.

TheShellBeach · 11/01/2023 17:27

I agree - blame my DH. I like to open boxes neatly. He opens things by tearing them to shreds.

Amazon delivered a light bulb to me today in a similarly enormous box, it's bonkers!

What does it matter? Just chuck it all in the bin and move on with your life.

Is he a gremlin?! That's been hacked at!

MidnightMeltdown · 11/01/2023 17:32

Presumably you can just put that in the recycling though?

Jiffy bags usually have plastic which is worse. They are harder to recycle.

Yes. Some of them can be seperated but still. Tricky to recycle a jiffy bag.

Oh well. They could have used a cardboard envelope.

I once had six small tubs of vitamins delivered from Boots in six separate boxes. Couldn’t believe it.

It looks like a generic primer that is available in every supermarket.

You can get it as part of a supermarket delivery too.

No point in moaning about packaging if people insist of on ordering bitty bitty things they can get as part of a bigger shop.

OrdinaryAva · 11/01/2023 17:43

But then you’d complain if it got crushed. I used to feel the same but I feel useful recycling. Actually I ordered 2 wardrobes which I expected to come in a few boxes, not 17!!!! Recycle said they couldn’t take it unless I put it in the bin, so I wet it & jumped on it & squashed it all in. I felt I’d really achieved 😆

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 11/01/2023 17:47

I used to do that with cardboard, then I read in the council handout that if it is wet, it contaminated the whole bin and they had to throw it all away…..🥺🥺

sometimes life is just soooo hard. Maybe we should all take up papier mâché, and make furniture out of them.

If you'd read my previous answer, you would have noted that no supermarkets deliver to our village.

It's a L'Oreal primer and I have no idea which supermarkets do or do not sell it, as they are 60 miles away and do not deliver to me anyway.
