To be annoyed at this review?

Just looked on indeed and saw a negative review about my company and department. Pretty sure they are referring to me as 'hard work' as well.
I have a feeling I know who wrote it and am very disappointed as have always supported them and they know we have a lack of applicants which will become worse now after their review.

Are you hard work?

Ginandtoner · 11/01/2023 14:33

Your post makes you sound like hard work 😅

Coffeellama · 11/01/2023 14:34

YANBU to be annoyed, but they’re entitled to leave their review and feel how they feel. Maybe see what you can do to address the issues they mentioned.

Justcallmebebes · 11/01/2023 14:36

I love Indeed employer reviews. Very useful. Is it truthful? What's your staff turnover like?

TinaTeaspoons · 11/01/2023 18:14

It just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
I'm tough on standard but am not a difficult personality. Personally, I hate indeed reviews as anyone with a grievance can go on and say what they want. I wish this employee had come to me personally.

I wouldnt be put off applying by 1 bad review that seemed targeted, however if there were multiple bad reviews it's a red flag

SpanishSalsaing · 11/01/2023 18:43

If I were an applicant, I'd be weighing you up during interview to see if there might be some basis to the review. Mind, I'd be weighing you up anyway to see if I felt we'd get on or not.

ClubhouseGift · 11/01/2023 18:44

From this reaction they’re probably right.

PAFMO · 11/01/2023 18:45

That's the beauty of reviews innit. People can be honest about companies and people.

Well if they have a grievance, why wouldn't they leave a negative review?

Either way YABU. They're entitled to say someone is hard work if that's what they truly think.

TinaTeaspoons · 11/01/2023 18:51

Because they could have spoken to me instead of putting it all over indeed.

OP posts:
LetsDoThis2023 · 11/01/2023 18:53

How would speaking to you help if they left because you were hard work?

Coffeellama · 11/01/2023 18:53

Do they still work for you?

TinaTeaspoons · 11/01/2023 18:56

They haven't left. They are still there.
I know who it is but can't actually say anything which is really frustrating

OP posts:
Coffeellama · 11/01/2023 18:57

Why can’t you say anything?

TinaTeaspoons · 11/01/2023 18:58

They are not going to admit they wrote it are they?

OP posts:
freshstartn · 11/01/2023 18:58

This is imvaluable for ppl looking for a job

devildeepbluesea · 11/01/2023 18:58

Yeah, Indeed reviews are public property. Why on earth can’t you ask them what the problem is? You may even manage to solve the problem.

freshstartn · 11/01/2023 18:58

Invaluable!

TinaTeaspoons · 11/01/2023 19:00

They will just deny it and say it was not them.

Maybe you're not very approachable?

Lost123454 · 11/01/2023 19:01

You can reply and give your side

Flapjackquack · 11/01/2023 19:02

You don’t know it was them, you suspect it was but you don’t know. I very much hope you won’t treat them negatively because of your suspicion.

People happy in their jobs don’t post negative reviews so I would instead be working out how to provide a better working environment for your employees.

TidyDancer · 11/01/2023 19:02

Gosh. I would say if an employee has gone as far as making this kind of comments about you in that context that it may well be you that's the problem. Have you thought about ways to improve morale in general? Might be a better plan than speculating on who wrote that about you.

JudgeRudy · 11/01/2023 19:05

I'm pretty sure if the employee felt this could be resolved by speaking with you they'd have done that.
This isn't about what you want. This isn't even vengeance. It's someone warning others so they don't have the same problem.
Why do you believe you have problems with recruitment?
