Would this bother you?

I really can't be too specific as it would be very outing.
When someone subscribes to something, and you get a code from a friend to use when starting the subscription, usually you will get some money off and so will your friend.

A friend of mine wanted to sign up to something and I have a code which gives me money off and them money off if they use it. I told them this.
This is something they knew very little about but wanted to sign up so she's asked me loads of questions about it which I've answered and then I sent the code.

Friend has messaged me to say they have found when going on the website that they were getting money off anyway just for signing up so they didn't use my code.

Would this bother you?

I'd find it a bit annoying yes

@fajitaaaa
Yes I would have as it's an area I offer lots of advice with regardless. So yes I would.
I can't say what it is as it's outing. But yes I do this often.

Ok in that case and as they wouldn't save anymore not using your code then yes I would be a little miffed but I wouldn't think any more of it. I expect they probably just didn't think.

RedHelenB · 07/01/2023 08:26

Why would it bother you?

MassiveSalad22 · 07/01/2023 08:28

Sounds like she thought she was doing you a favour, saving your voucher to give to someone else, so you’d have even more friends doing what you’re doing.

ravingbathtime · 07/01/2023 08:28

@donttellmehesalive

No it's isn't like that.
If they used my code they would get £150 off and I would get £30 off.

But when they went on the site, they said they saw they would get £150 off regardless so didn't bother putting my code in.

@RedHelenB
Because using the referral code would also help me out as well as themselves. I have used a friends code before despite also being offered the £150. I used the code as I knew it would also help my friend.

The frustrating thing is I know my friend will be still asking me questions about this service and will likely still want me to help them with it so it is a little frustrating they didn't use my code really.

I wouldn't help her. Direct her back to the company. Every single time. She's a CF.

JudgeRudy · 07/01/2023 11:07

Not so sure OP 'helped her' with questions. She presented an option to her that actually posed questions.

FromTheFront2theBack · 07/01/2023 11:11

If they would have got the same money off by using my code (so no disadvantage to them) and they knew that by using the code I would also get money off then it would seem very odd of them not to use it. It would also be a bit ungrateful given all the advice you offered. I'd probably find it strange and a bit annoying but if they're a nice person I'd assume there was some confusion and let it go (although perhaps make less effort to offer advice next time).

Well then yes that was mean.

Mintyt · 08/01/2023 14:10

Was it skin and me either way it was a bit mean,

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/01/2023 14:11
