Feeling ugly and low

Posting on here as I'm fed up and so low about my skin. I don't know what is wrong with it. When I get hot it gets worse. Anyone offer any tips to help.

I assume they’re trying to say you’re not ugly and interpreted YANBU as meaning yes, you should feel low.

I get rosacea but it's linked to what I eat (still working that one out, seems to be berries and dairy), exercise sets it off too (even wetting my face can). I have a green concealer to put over the redness before b and b cream/foundation if it's bad.

Your picture looked like how I do during a flare up. If you have that all the time, that is bound to get you down.

Lupus tends to be over the nose and cheeks, sometimes there joint pain, extreme tiredness and other problems (autoimmune).

Hope you manage to get a face to face apt with GP and a solution.

I’m sure it’s not meant cruelly but as pp says that you needn’t feel bad - either that or they’re arseholes!

I would definitely recommend making an appointment with a dermatologist if you possibly can (try to find a reputable, established one) - they are skin experts and will ask you about diet etc (usually a major factor in how our skin responds - my face/nose goes red for two days when I have hot curry or drink wine!)

Hope you get it sorted, it’s horrible feeling crap about your skin x

Thanks I don't drink wine. Yes maybe I am being a bit to emotional over it. How do I know what a reputable dermatologist is?

I do have joint pain and I'm under investigation for other issues but have never linked it to my skin tbh. It's a fight as woman to get anyone to listen tbh atm

Is it just on your face or do you have skin issues elsewhere?

I think your best bet would be to make a face to face appointment with a doctor. Tell them the cream they prescribed didn’t work, you are not sure it is even acne. My doctors will diagnose rashes over a video call or by photos via email.

In the meantime don’t use anything other than plain water on your face no washes, creams, cleansers or anything.

Explain to them is affecting your self worth and making you upset. Rashes are a perfectly reasonable reason to see a doctor. Or ask at a pharmacy to speak to the pharmacist about it. They may well tell you to go to the gp though as you may need a prescription.

Hi no I don't have a rash anywhere else on my body. My skin has always been so lovely. I will go to the doctor's I can send them the pics can't I. Will a pharmacist know the difference between acne and roseaca?

I suggested a pharmacist because you seem reluctant to go to the doctors and rather than waiting for an appointment you could pop into any pharmacy and ask. Yes they can help with rashes but will only be able to offer over the counter medication or possibly a private prescription so you would be better off with the drs if you can get an appointment?

Agree it looks like rosacea to me as well. Mine goes very red in the heat as well, even blowing throwing my hair. Usually I don't have the spots just the colour but that's still a pain to be honest. I haven't had much success with lots of treatments. Salyic acid ( spelt wrong) does help a bit I found.

Fearneyox · 06/01/2023 21:11

Looks like rosacea. If you can afford to, go to a private dermatologist they’ll sort it in no time.
