Er, you probably are being Unreasonable to post this in the AIBU thread rather than the Fitness forum!

Eat more - but only healthy stuff, high protein generally fish if you can, no bread (which only comes with butter anyway). It's all out there but it's high sugar intake that wrecks the body's thermostat, I've found. Work your way thru a litre of mineral water a day, coffee only in the morning, then green teas.

ILoveeCakes · 04/01/2023 17:39

Eat less. Move more. HTH!

Sorry - but that is the way. It is that simple. Not always easy though.........

Strawblue · 04/01/2023 18:19

Have a look at the principles of The Fast 800 plan by Michael Mosley.

In a nutshell it’s high protein/good fats and low sugar - so eating plenty of lean protein like poultry, eggs and fish, certain vegetables, no more than one piece of fruit daily and preferably berries/apple/pear (lowest in sugar of all fruits), good fats like certain oils/salmon, full-fat dairy, and plenty of water.

Get rid of all processed foods like biscuits/crisps/cakes/ready meals etc, sugary drinks including diet drinks, bread, rice, pasta, cereals.

Get walking or doing whatever exercise you enjoy.

Come over to the low carb bootcamp threads. New bootcamp is starting on Monday. It definitely works.

MatildaTheCat · 04/01/2023 18:23

Ask for a referral to a dietitian/ obesity specialist clinic. You don’t say how much weight you need to lose but it’s almost impossible without support.

In the meantime plan your meals to avoid snacking or buying in hunger, stop all sugary drinks and eat many more fruit and veg than you currently do. Read the labels when shopping and look online at portion sizes.

Good luck.

Rainbow1901 · 04/01/2023 18:25

Portion caution! Easy but steady way to lose weight without paying a fortune.

TheUndoing · 04/01/2023 18:26

There are lots of threads in the weight loss section from people using saxenda (the weight loss injections). If you post there I’m sure people would be happy to talk to you about their experiences.

Wolfiefan · 04/01/2023 18:32

Why didn’t the methods you list work? What do you eat now?

AFS1 · 04/01/2023 18:33

I’m going back to Exante tomorrow. Bit like slim fast but with more variety. Worked well when I did it a couple of years ago, but I didn’t stick to it and the weight has crept back on.

RealBecca · 04/01/2023 18:33

Skipping breakfast and moving myself out of danger zones (like the sofa and tv) usually works for me. And high veg meals

Knobknob · 04/01/2023 18:35

Only eating natural foods and surgery.

I get PTSD when I read people are doing exante/lighter life. The weight ALWAYS goes back on and often more.

Stellaris22 · 04/01/2023 18:36

My weight became more manageable when I stopped following fad diets and joined a gym with a PT.

The accountability to someone other than myself is what made me to stick to eating 'healthier' as well as not labeling food as 'good' or 'bad'.

I don't do cardio and focus on strength training, reached the point where getting stronger is my goal rather than a number on a scale.

You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight

happynewyear55 · 17/01/2023 03:45

Just focus on eating healthy food.
You can try all the fad diets, or weighing and counting your food, but the reality is nobody got fat from eating too many chicken salads or too many apples.

tonystarksrighthand · 17/01/2023 04:00

As a PP said .... eat less and move more

It really is that simple

Don't do these fad diets, they are not sustainable

Grandmistress991 · 17/01/2023 04:10

Look at intermittent fasting 18 :6. Break your fast with higher protein meal and last meal of day also. Drink loads water.

Babsexxx · 17/01/2023 06:26

Just download mfp stay in your calorie deficit remember to regularly update your weight so that you are always in your deficit eat whatever you want but remain in the deficit.

greenacrylicpaint · 17/01/2023 06:35

eat less.
move more.

requires willpower
slimming clubs, specific diet plans, medication can help.
but ultimately it's on you.

small changes - take the stairs, not the lift. swap out 'white' carbs for wholegrain. use smaller plates etc

Lampzade · 17/01/2023 06:39

Intermittent Fasting is the only method that worked for me. Combined with moderate exercise
Didn’t find it difficult at all

No it isn't this simple.

Genetics play a big part.

Try reading 'why we eat too much' OP.

Aussiegirl123456 · 17/01/2023 06:43

Calorie deficit alongside intermittent fasting alongside 10,000 steps a day. Patience.
