To start wearing false eyelashes at age 52?

Just ordered myself some new makeup as I feel like a bit of a do over. I don’t bother with makeup much apart from eyeliner and lipstick which I don’t leave the house without putting on but I haven’t bothered with the rest of it since my wedding nearly 26 years ago and post DC.

Adult DD is into false nails, lashes, contouring and all that and looks bloody amazing when she’s done her makeup. Takes her hours!

I’d like to start with false lashes and move into doing some contouring and that myself (been watching Tik Toks and the transformations are unbelievable).

Am I a bit past it though 😂?

Just don't go too long or too heavy. I'm 54, I think that good coverage is ok, but don't go towards the porn star/drag look.

@NewMeFor2023 you're not past it!! I want to look good even when i'm in my 90's 😍 i'll still be dying my hair 😁

TheMaddHugger · 03/01/2023 23:08

You're not past it darlin, I've watched wonderful easy tutorials and vids of women 50 and up.
a lot take only 10 mins and look amazing.
I'm 58, have been deathly pale all my life and look ill if i don't wear something.

SwingandaPrayer · 03/01/2023 23:12

I've just had my first lash extensions and eyebrow laminations done at 49. Best decision ever!

I’ve made my stylist promise to tell me when I need to give up my current color. I’ve told her I want to transition to become Mrs. Slocombe when the time comes and I don’t need to be professional anymore. Sadly she has no idea who I’m talking about, but she’ll be up for it!

I recently treated my mum to some classic lash extensions and she's 57 🤷🏻‍♀️ she asked to have them done as she had been admiring mine for a while. A bit of subtle flutter looks good!

RobertaFirmino · 03/01/2023 23:53

Never too old. They'll likely shave a few years off you if you get them right. In fact, you are never too old to wear anything. Who gives a shiny shite what society says women should do? If you like the way it makes you look then wear them daily if you like!

You're definitely not past it but I have a personal dislike of stick on false eyelashes.

My colleague however had them individually done at a salon (took 2 hours!) and they looked amazing and so natural.

😁 love it!

Of course your not past it, just be careful false eyelashes look so try hard and rarely flattering.

BBCK · 04/01/2023 03:24

Definitely do it! I have mine done every month and it’s an absolute game-changer. I look way less haggard and can get away with minimal make-up.

Flannan · 04/01/2023 03:27

Do whatever you want, whenever you want.

In my view though, eyebrows are about 100% more important than lashes at most ages, but certainly as I get older. Not felt tip, insta brows, obviously.

Sling · 04/01/2023 03:38

I recently had my eyebrows dyed to what I described as 'normal but better than normal' - actually only one friend noticed enough to say anything but I notice it every day and feel it's made a difference to my face which was kind of middle age fading. I also got a keratin botox treatment and dye at the same time. Again natural enough to look like I've made an effort with make up without being too OTT.

I'm not a great one for high maintenance beauty treatments but definitely going up continue these two.
