To think Money Saving Expert should know better

Ok so bear with me as this is my first post but as a website that promotes itself on having such an exceptional knowledge of finance shouldn’t it’s reporters know that if a payment is made on the same date a full financial year apart they are in fact in separate financial years? thus making the cost of living package for the year £600 not £900 as reported. I can see why the government has made this mistake as they can be quite silly with money but shouldn’t Money Saving Expert know better? It’s baked into the title.

There's nothing to say that the third payment won't be made before the new financial year in 2024 though - just that it will be in 'Spring'.

But that page doesn't say "for the year" on it. You are looking for a problem that doesn't exist.

Krakenwakes · 03/01/2023 02:00

It doesn’t say anything about the same date a financial year apart. The implication is three payments in one financial year.

I agree with PPs that financial years are not referenced anywhere, it just says what you could be entitled to in 2023 and 2024.
