Spotting on pill panic

Someone reassure me?

I've been on Microgynon for 3 full years now. Over the past 3 months, I've started spotting and getting pink streaks in my discharge.

I've kept putting off questioning it because I have such health anxiety but it's just happened again on the 3rd pack and I'm internally hysterical thinking I must have cancer. I'm petrified.

I spoke to a friend who said they've never experienced it and would imagine it's an urgent issue which has made me spiral more.

I'm hoping to hear that I am being unreasonable and this isn't such an urgent sign? I'm just so prone to a panic.

Hopefully some nice MNer medics will be along shortly to reassure you better but in the meantime:

Apparently this says it's very common, especially the first three months of taking a new pill. If you're v worried then maybe try your GP or practice nurse? I understand the worry but when you hear hooves, think horses - not zebras, i.e. the most usual obvious answer is the most probable, not the extreme. Are there any other symptoms worrying you?

Have you been running packs back to back could that cause it?
