WTF is this?

Got a new brown patch of skin- on my fifth toe on the skin just above the nail. I don’t know exactly when it started but it wasn’t there a fortnight ago and I randomly noticed it in the shower on Friday. It isn’t that dark but it’s definitely brown and discoloured- I didn’t have any freckles or moles there before, and I haven’t had any blisters or cuts recently either. It’s flat and it’s not a scab or mole, it’s just the skin is brown. But I don’t use sunbeds and my toes are never exposed to the sun so I know it’s unlikely to be serious.

has anyone else had this before?!

im sure it’s nothing bad but I’ll feel better when it’s been looked at. I looked online at the ABCDE rule and it isn’t symmetrical, it’s bigger than 6mm and it’s changing so I’ll definitely get it checked. But I looked at other photos of dodgy skin lesions/moles and this doesn’t actually look anything like melanoma from what I can see, so I feel better after that.

im a skin picker so it’s hard to resist the temptation to give myself a biopsy and pick it completely off! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Melanoma was my first thought. Keep a very close eye on it

Just a little update!

It’s still here- it hasn’t got any bigger or darker though thankfully and it seems to have stabilised since last time which is a good sign! I’ve got an appointment to get it looked at in a few weeks, it was the first i could get. I honestly have no clue what it is- it doesn’t look concerning but it’s just not going away! Im resisting the temptation to pick it off myself😬

i think it’s just calloused skin from shoe pressure. Do you have diabetes? Or any loss of sensation in your feet?

It looks like how blisters go when they’re left to dry out by themselves.
