To say it won't help?

I am single and very touch starved. People suggested on here that I could just ask a colleague for a hug but I think many would be uncomfortable or would just give a very light hug which won't help.
In all honesty, what would your reaction be to a colleague randomly asking for this? I am guessing not a good one. I'm so desperate for a hug it's embarrassing. Makes me feel like an utter loser. 😔

In a word....don't.

That said, is there anyone who's a proper friend?

OdeToBarney · 01/01/2023 22:44

Aww OP. I'd hug you if I could!

Oh and you're not a loser. Everyone needs human touch.

BigHeadBertha · 01/01/2023 22:46

Maybe you could go get a professional massage.

ThreeLittleDots · 01/01/2023 22:46

Noooooo! Book a massage.

BatshitBanshee · 01/01/2023 22:46

You're not a loser but don't ask a colleague for a hug, it can put them in an awkward position.

Do you have a proper friend you can ask? Or have you tried a cuddle party group?

BigHeadBertha · 01/01/2023 22:46

If possible, you could also get a pet.

OffredsNose · 01/01/2023 22:47

I would advise you to not ask for a hug unless you know the person very well.

I hate hugging, it makes me very uncomfortable but if I was specifically asked for a hug I’d feel like I had to

why don’t you go for a massage? Would that help?

Onnabugeisha · 01/01/2023 22:47

Don’t ask a colleague for a hug. Do you have any close friends you can ask? Or a family member?

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/01/2023 22:47

Second a pet if you have the time, money and inclination. DDog loves to press up against us.

Pumpkintopf · 01/01/2023 22:51

Depends how close you are to your colleagues, and whether they are huggers. If I were asked by one of my colleagues for a hug I'd be happy to share one!

Unicorn717 · 01/01/2023 23:10

I'd hug most of my colleagues but I've worked with most of them for years and we get on well.

Depends how close you are with them. Sarah you see everyday, probably fine.. Betty who you've only ever said hi to twice would probably find it a bit weird.

What about a pet? Do you have friends or family?
