Scrabble, jizz and my mother

I spent New Year with my elderly mother. She's a huge Scrabble fan, and we played several games.

In one game I realised I could get the highest score I've ever got for a word. It would blitz the game, and triumphantly crown all my years of Scrabble playing. It included two Zs (one from a blank), and a triple word score.

But the word was JIZZ. I realised I couldn't face the ensuing conversation with my mother, so it went unplayed.

Was I unreasonable to forego the most euphoric Scrabble moment ever, because I wouldn't explain jizz to my mother?

I hate to break it to you, but your very existence suggests your mother has come across jizz at least once before.

It was only after the event that I discovered my Scrabble dictionary had jizz in it.

That’s certainly a way for everyone to evaluate their relationship with their mother: could you or could you not play the word “Jizz” in a game of Scrabble with her. 😂

My own mother would find it hilarious, but around my grandparents I’d eat my tiles rather than play that word.

Exactly what I was going to say. I think she is quite familiar with jizz and has been since, well, before you were even born 😄

I would have said, "It's another term for semen."
She's an adult. It's fine.

A friend once said she had some jizz on her trousers. Her mum asked her what it meant and she panicked and said it was another word for sauce (her mum is not from UK). Now her mum always asks "anyone want any more jizz?" whilst passing around the gravy boat!

A cumbersome quandary.

My mother has a name that is also a card in Cards Against Humanity. When I was 17, my DM decided to play that card when I had a boyfriend over and resulted in him having to read out “I lost my virginity thanks to [my DM’s name]” in front of me, my parents and my siblings. The thought that she’d be too precious to see the word “jizz” on a Scrabble board is madness to me. Luckily, the boyfriend married me anyway.

I'd have used it and said oh it's a small south American mammal, or whatever

But surely WANKER is also slang?? (And just British English slang. And possibly Irish English. It's not generally used in the US. )

I genuinely thought there was only one Z tile in scrabble, so never thought Jizz was an option! I’d have played it tho! Go for it! All’s fair in scrabble and war!

There is one Z, but the blank tile can be used as any letter.
