I never reply the same back and feel a bit weird about it, I just put hearts etc

It sounds like you don't feel that yours loves you though? Would be odd for someone to text you that but treat you as if they don't.

@VickyEadieofThigh I know 😬but then I feel bad, even though I don’t always have a positive view of her. She’s the same with Dh and lots of ‘I love you’s’ when hanging up the phone etc. My family aren’t really like that, it’s a bit much

Who actually wants to be told 'I love you' by someone who treats you as they don't even like you. It's not nice behaviour at all.

Families vary, in some this might be a very normal way of saying Goodbye. In others in might be considered odd and over the top. I would just accept that this is her way of doing things.

My family aren't very tactile, we're not huggers and we certainly don't declare our love. Everyone's different though.

Mine used to text me telling me I was as terrible mother and a gold digger with the odd racial slur mixed in until I blocked her, so it could be worse!

I don't t think you need to do anything. Just accept that is something she wants to communicate with you.
