Don't want to parent today

The daily slog of it all.
Have DD2 and DSS 9. DSS not too bad as happy to chill and watch movies. DD2 is very energetic and like a little tornado, nothing holds her attention for more then 5 minutes.
Had them now for 2 weeks whilst DH has been on call at work, so for a few night has been working through the night, and my god do I want a rest.
House is a mess, they constantly want feeding and I just want to read a book in bed with a glass of wine.

AIBU to count down the hours till bed time??

I totally get you OP, I feel like this more times than I care to admit. Its just so relentless and I long to just hide away at times and get some time on my own. I'm sure how we parent today is so unnatural as if parenting had always felt like this I'm sure we'd have died out a long time ago!

YANBU. Mine are 8 and 10 so much less hard work now. When they were little I found it exhausting on my own.

Sympathy OP. I have a 4 and 5 year old. No family nearby to help and DH working. I'm suffering with a chest infection so snacks and films but they're getting a bit feral.

Not long till school starts again!

Yes can’t wait for school to start again which sounds awful but I’m a lone parent so this is my life every day school is the only break I get (no family help)

I'm so glad not the only one that feels this way. It's relentless.

I keep thinking I can't wait for DD to be older and more independent, then feel bad for wishing her life away.

I'm normally fine but today I really could do with a duvet day.

I hate the time between Christmas and New year. Deflated after the Christmas hype, loads of tidying, kids high on chocolate, weather cold and miserable and lack of funds in the current account.

I am literally counting down to going back to work. There's a bloody good reason I am not a SAHM.

Just wrote something very similar on a thread! Struggled to interact at all today with ds whose 3 Nmand is high energy and so needy. I get it, so you're not alone!
