West Yorks tesco rant

My sister isn't well, just emailed me in floods of tears.. she saw the Tesco van near her address & then it disappeared, on her Tesco account it says her food has been DELIVERED!!
She's phoned Tesco & the lady there was trying to insist it had been delivered.. says she'll be charged & then refunded. She's tried every supermarket in West Yorks & they all seem equally terrible. Now her & BIL are stuck without any food. :-(

What do you mean by 'tried every supermarket in W Yorks'? Can your BIL not find anywhere to buy some food to tide them over until a delivery can be rearranged?

@PlaitBilledDuckyPuss Sorry, didn't make myself clear with being so cross.. BIL isn't well either but they managed to get to a local shop in the car to get bread, milk etc. - both have Long Covid and other health problems, sister can barely walk at the mo with sciatica.

I meant they have tried in the past few years online deliveries from all the local supermarkets but West Yorks seem to be particularly bad at them.. :-(
Things missing all the time, soap packed with (and squashing) bread etc..

Apparently BIL saw the Tesco van through the window but the driver never made any attempt to go into their square.. he had phoned them, but the line was particularly bad & neither BIL nor the driver could make themselves understood. So he must have told the store that he'd delivered, when he hadn't.. ?

I felt so sorry for them both. Sister was going to write to the CEO but BIL said he'd probably got enough loo roll.. :-(

A complaint would do no harm - they might get some vouchers as a goodwill gesture; nothing to lose by contacting them.

I'm in W Yorks but we do our shopping in person, so I don't know how good the deliveries are in my neck of the woods. Have you or they any family nearby who could drop a few items off for them, just so they've something nice to eat over New Year?

That sounds tough but I’m in West Yorkshire and I don’t think it’s a location issue

ILoveeCakes · 31/12/2022 17:18

If you have tried every supermarket and found them all terrible, the obvious conclusion is that all the supermarkets (all of them) are in the wrong..........

We're in West Yorkshire and use Ocado. Very rarely have a substitute, excellent quality and never had a problem. Been using them for over a year on and off with Sainsbury's but have recently switched completely.
