To worry about going out tonight?

Usually stay in NYE but tonight an opportunity arose to go to pub with others so I thought that would be nice for a change and was all set to go.

Then on the news they were saying about Covid and flu etc. The pub is bound to be busy I would have thought so now I'm worried about going and mixing with everyone and going down ill.
Can't decide now whether to go or not. I know I'd regret it if I got ill. Touch wood not have Covid yet or flu. On the other hand I might miss out on some enjoyment.

WWYD. Anyone else thinking the same? It was seeing the news that has made me think?
Help.

Would you have worried in the same way during a bad flu year pre-2020? Bugs and viruses have always been around, and unless you voluntarily lock yourself down you could catch something anywhere. Enjoy your life, we have missed out on enough.

Get yourself some First Defence spray and use it before and after you go?

I would never miss a night out because of Covid / flu on the news. If you don't feel comfortable, don't go.

Well it's not going to go away? Unless you're never going to visit crowded places during the winter for the rest of your life (which I think is nuts) then you should go.

I would go, lots of pubs are ventilating well now. Life has to go on. I wouldn't see my elderly parents within the next 5-7 days after though.

Normally my response to this would be go out and enjoy!

But considering the number of our close friends & family who have been seriously unwell with covid or this horrendous flu bug and his dreadfully it's knocked them all out, I'd say avoid a packed pub this evening, sorry OP. I think if you have any little ones or vulnerable family members it would be wiser to be at home.

Thanks for input.

I did go out and was glad I did. Pub wasn't too crowded actually.

Made a change from being on on NYE.
