To take my cat for a coffee!

(Lighthearted, before any one moans) Since dogs are allowed in coffee shops, i can't see why Cheddar couldn't come along for a latte with me. (Other cat would hate it, but cheddar tells me she would love it!)

Cheddar requires me to say that all the cats are welcome.

The Ballet Cats (having chosen, as kittens, to be indoor felines) think that getting a human to bring things from a coffee shop to them sounds a much better idea than venturing to one. They’re just working on getting me to leave my phone unattended at the right moment so their wee toebeans can summon them some delicious snacks.

Get two teacups and next time you're making a cappuccino, give them a bit if the milk foam in teacups. Don't leave the black cat out. Just a tiny bit and some Dreamies on the side. My cats all line up on the breakfast bar. On very rainy days, they play cat games on the iPad (well, two play and three watch).

I have a terrible allergy to cats, and to a lesser extent dogs - owners get very arsey when you ask them to not sit next to you (for example on the train last week)

My breathing is effected, it’s awful - if cats are allowed it needs to be in a specific area, with a notice for allergy suffers to avoid.

These “emotional support animals” seem to be the latest trend, my sister is a lecturer and currently has 4 students with emotional support animals, and 4 students with allergies to said animals … so how do you prioritise in that situation (just to mention that she teaches nursing, and these emotional support animals will not be allowed on the wards when people are working … so no idea how that will work itself out)

Making biscuits causes skin damage? Isn’t that just when cats lightly knead you? Or does Cheddar make particularly violent pizza dough or something?

Confusedmeanderings · 28/12/2022 23:17

Muldoon is very sociable. He goes off visiting other houses and likes playing with next door but one's cat. He really likes it when next door light their fire pit and has his own special spot next to it. I'm sure he'd enjoy a trip to a cafe.

Actually, this thread has reminded me of a previous cat we had called Missy. She followed us down the road to the pub once and we were amazed to see her going to the regulars for a stroke and everyone seemed to know her. It turned out she'd been going down there of an evening for years!

When I first started seeing now DH, he brought his cat to meet mine when he was staying at the weekend - I was running a bit late to meet him from the station so he went to wait for me in the pub and I asked him to get me a pint in.

He said the bar man's face was a picture when he walked in with a cat and asked for two pints 😅

Confusedmeanderings · 29/12/2022 00:13

@rubydoobydoo love it 🤣🤣🤣

PlumpkinPete · 29/12/2022 06:20

If she would enjoy it, you definitely should!

DP was in a cafe the other day and the owner's cat joined him, sensing a willing cat slave.

They explained that it was time for the cat's cup of tea and she could have it at his table if he wanted- decaf tea and non dairy milk. He thoroughly enjoyed his feline afternoon tea companion!

DCat had taken to following us on our walks over Christmas, which is fine when it's through the park or quiet streets near our house but we were less keen on him following us down the main road to go for coffee in town. I think he would have come all the way if we'd let him but we were worried he'd get lost or get into traffic, so we took him back home and shut him in... he was most indignant.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/12/2022 08:01

@PlumpkinPete I need to try cheddar on tea. She does like to investigate any cup I'm drinking from.

@Toddlerteaplease as any self respecting feline would!

DP is really keen to try DCat on the feline safe tea as well, apparently tearoom cat has her own cup and saucer and it was terribly elegant.

Sadly for DCat the vet is keeping him on a strict diet while we get to the bottom of an ongoing health issue but if we get the go ahead to give him treats, I know DP will be on it...

Hobbesmanc · 29/12/2022 08:55

My Christmas boys would love the attention. They spend all their spare time looking for humans to admire them.

WunWun · 28/12/2022 11:51

Because the cat would probably hate it and you'd look like an attention seeker.

Costa doesn't allow animals unless it's a service dog
