a question about swearing

AIBU to ask someone to explain why they think, when posting on MN, f**k or sh!t is better than just typing fuck or shit, or whatever. Staring out random letters in a swear word, what's the (fucking) point??

Really, really grinds me gears.

You're still 'swearing'. You're not fooling anyone. This isn't a primary playground, just be an adult and own your sweary mouth.

Possibly a habit from posting on fb etc, where you can all too easily get banned?

LolaMoon · 26/12/2022 18:19

Because on many websites posts get removed with swearing so if you’ve typed out a longish post it’s annoying if it’s removed.
I had no idea when I joined here if they did that or not because I couldn’t be f*cked to read through every single posting rule. That’s why.

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2022 18:58

It doesn't matter, everyone knows what f*ck means and what fuck means it's all the same to me.

cantforthelifeofme · 26/12/2022 19:04

Is it a way of notating the sort of swearing you'd do under your breath, or swear quietly just mouthing the word?

Yes still swearing but perhaps some people don't feel as brash doing it in a more subtle way.

Tis a mystery
