not exactly a AIBU but really need to know if I’m being dramatic
Christmas Eve laying in bed with a hot coffee and it spills ALL over my legs and bum. ( worst pain of my life, literally never felt anything like it..would rather give birth again a billion times )
anyway my point is..does this look like it’s going to scar..I’m scared as it’s a large part of my body..slightly panicking.
Ps. Hard to take photos from this angle.

I've had 20 years of treating wounds not just burns!!

As long as the skin isn't broken, cool it in a bath of cool water, do not put any ointment on it, it makes it worse and increases risk of infection.wrap in cling visit a and e. I had a scald from boiling water and ribena, it needed dressing and monitoring, it went green and yellow but the skin eventually healed .it looked horrendous for a month, but did not scar. It ran the whole length of my thigh, so similar.please go to a and e.

Course you have.

If you had you’d never, ever, give medical advice based on a photo on the internet. Your training would have made it clear not to do that.

Hey OP, I notice that this happened on Christmas Eve so I hope it's all starting to heal now and isn't looking so angry.

I managed to throw hot oil from the frying pan down the full length of my forearm, over my stomach and my hip a couple of years or so ago. I had the same discolouration on the burn that your photo shows, but I developed HUGE blisters too. It was raw, weeping and very, very unpleasant. I thought I'd have an awful scarred arm for life - I'd post photos on here of the injury but they're really disgusting and graphic.

Anyway, just to say that it miraculously healed up without a single scar. You'd never know to look at my arm/stomach/hip now. I had an amazing burns plaster put on my arm - it's this kind of pink foam stuff. I don't know if that helped at all with the scarring but I believe you can buy it in the pharmacy. Obviously I can't guarantee anything for you, but I thought my story might give you a bit of hope as my burn was huge and looked even worse than yours, and there's not a blemish on me now. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
