To suddenly realise I have had not a single text from a friend this Christmas - I officially have no friends!

Not even a text. From anyone. At all. Except family.

Is this sad or is it just me? I suddenly just come to the realisation this is the first year it's happened.

I have no friends anymore! Mid thirties - is this what usually happens around this age or is it just me?

Why would you though? It seems odd to me that anybody would want to mass send 1 corporate type text. I get its nice to hear from people if you're lonely and getting a message reminds you people are thinking of you. But a mass text? Why..... Just send a handwritten card with an invitation to meet soon.

It's been normal for a few years for my friends and I to send these texts so the silence is out of the ordinary to me.

Very quiet this year. I don't know anyone who hasn't been sick coming into Christmas this year incl me and it's made it all a bit fraught.
5 billion school events back on now that Covid is "gone"; work stuff and the usual rat race ramped up with deliveries problematic due to strikes. Today was the first time I considered sending anyone a message

It just makes you feel lonely when you look at your phone twice a day and see no new messages.
Still it's a good way of not being glued to the phone right... constant screen time isn't good for eyes/ lines.

I dont see the 2 as connected. I got 2 texts & the replies are the only ones I sent. I.havent has texts from other friends nor have I sent any bit well catch up soon. People have other priorities at Christmas

I haven't received any specific Christmas texts apart from in WhatsApp groups. It feels outdated imho. Ditto Christmas cards this year weirdly.

Feels more genuine to just msg someone individually. I think if you'd sent loads out with no reply you might question why.

Give and you will receive. Why complain no messages if you aren't sending them? They may well be saying, I haven't heard from X. I message the people I want to hear from.

The only texts I've had recently are from my dc asking for more time on their phones. I'm early 40s and haven't had friends for well over 10 years. The only people I socialise with are my dc, siblings and cousins and their children.
