Anyone elses house is trashed after hosting

I shall quickly point out I had a great night and I blame none of my family for being absolute tear aways. But is anyone elses house an absolute bomb site and you are now facing a massive clean up with a huge hangover.

Do I start now or go to bed and ignore it in the morning.

Go to bed and ignore it op... im doing the exact same. Havent got the energy after such a full day. X

This is why I dont host.
If you have the energy do a bit of tidying now, like go round with a binbag and get the worst of the mess.
If not don't worry. Have a lie in and tackle it tomorrow.

Yep ours. I'm being a tad unfair as DP has tidied but we're both ill so it's not the usual nice tidy state we aim for!

Ignore. I will unload dishwasher in morning, load it up again and put it on, then lie back on sofa. Periodically I might do the same thing, or drift round with a binliner.

That's as good as it gets. Someone else might do the same if they are feeling goodwill to all men enough...

No. In our family the hosts cook, everyone else cleans up.
If my family or friends (and there were 14 of us today) left me with a huge bombsite of a mess,I would be livid!

I tidied after the meal and washed up what felt like 10 times but then it all went to shit. It was fun though and Im not innocent of being the one to walk away from others houses like this haha. Im going to do a 10 minute clear out and go to bed.

My dishwasher has been on four times today. The place looks like a bomb site and I'm doing it again tomorrow.

I slung the Hoover round at 10pm as I couldn’t stand the floor mess! The rest is piled up everywhere!

Just put the dishwasher on - 3rd run today. We hosted and cooked the huge main meal, family bought drinks and deserts and cleaned up- but was a bit of a mess again this evening after all the older kids did seconds and did their idea of a clean up. Hoover and mopping tomorrow am

all the hosting extras like time taken to plan, shop, clean, prep, and clean up afterwards never get factored in!

Yes!! We had 20 today in a bog standard london victorian terrace. The 2 dishwashers have done 4 runs each. Going to bed and leaving the roomba to it!

Yes mine looks like a bomb has gone off, I told my guests I look forward to them hosting next year, we take turns.

Oh goodness I just wasn't brought up like this. We were at a close friend's on Friday nt, they are both post covid and both exhausted from drinking (they both drink much faster than us). I made sure to do a whizz round before leaving so they living room was as it was when we showed up. I just couldn't go to someone's house and not help tidy (assuming they aren't offended by my help, no one has ever been). Hope it's not too painful for you tomorrow, 💕

2.30am here, just flopped in to bed , dishwasher on for 3rd time . Phew, yes hosting is tiring

I mean… you can tell it was Christmas yesterday but it’s not trashed so to speak.

I am looking forward to getting up to the carefully stored leftovers and millions of cheese for a well earned lazy day

Just finished the third dishwasher run, and have a pavlova in the oven. My family were over today, and the in-laws are here for dinner tomorrow, so couldn’t leave it.

I can't leave it as I have 28 guests today , off to bed once I've finding tidying
