Can you freeze reheated turkey?

Dh cooked turkey for the correct amount of time. He sliced a third and left the rest to cool. When he went back to slice the rest the middle had some pink in it. He's thinking finish cooking it, cool it, then freeze it. Is this safe?

No, I wouldn't risk it.

JustBkind · 25/12/2022 21:26

No definitely not. If it was cooked for the right amount of time it should be fine but if you’re not sure just bin it to be on the safe side!!

TennyTroo · 25/12/2022 21:28

I would, as I wouldn't want to waste the turkey. But I'm quite relaxed with use by dates etc and eating left overs days and days later (never had food poisoning!)

Yutes · 25/12/2022 21:52

I’ve had food poisoning from this exact thing.
hard no.

purpledalmation · 25/12/2022 22:28

I would slice it and put it in a casserole and cook it completely but it's probably got some bacteria in the uncooked bit so putting it in the fridge overnight may be a bit iffy in its current state. If you casseroled it and then froze as a casserole you would kill off the bacteria and it should be ok to reheat to piping hot after defrosting. The cook, freeze and reheat does usually depend on it being cooked through the first time though. A good cook whose done a hygiene training would know what to do.

SnarkyBag · 25/12/2022 22:30

Ooh god know. How long has half cooked Turkey been sat out before he plans to reheat it?

autienotnaughty · 25/12/2022 22:39

Came out the oven at 1pm . Rested an hour. I put it in the fridge AAt about 3pm dh got it out about 8pm to be slice

Are you sure it wasn't cooked all the way through properly? Turkey can turn pink after cooking.

Mossstitch · 26/12/2022 00:00

I'd be tempted to chop it up, freeze it, then use it to cook things with so it will be sure to be cooked through then in curries, casseroles, stir fries or whatever you like to eat.
