What a difference in car insurance quotes

My car insurance due for renewal towards end of January.
Haven’t been given my renewal by RAC (current) who charged me £500 for a £250 excess last year. I have one speeding ticket on my license last year but off this year.

I need fully comp, legal cover etc and I protect my no claims.

went on comparemoneysupermarket cheapest quote £890 up to £3000 and no insurance companies I had ever heard of!

So I went on the meerkat one and got a quote for £270 fully comp, protected no claims, courtesy car, legal aid etc and everything else

I wanted to double check that I hadn’t missed the spent speeding off and reviewed it all. It’s all the same on both. Identical information on both policies.

I wasn’t expecting it to go down due to price rises but I thought the post 5 year or whatnot on the speeding ticket would help decrease it.

has anyone else had massively different quotes?? Will triple check with the AA in January but quote looks good!

I was with Tesco in 2020 and had a no-fault accident. Claimed no bother.

When it came to renew, Tesco wanted over £1000 off me, o I went with Churchill and spent £360. Now back with Tesco again and paid £320, lol.

New regulations have come in which mean that renewal customers cannot be charged than new customers so prices are all over at the moment until it settles down. Usually when they charge over £1K they don't want to insure you.

Last year, my first as a single person, I paid 430, which was the best I could get as had zero no claims of my own. My renewal was 550, I shopped around and am now paying 315.

I mean, you got comparison quotes and found the cheapest you could. What’s the issue?
