I fully know IABU so can’t tell anyone in real life as I know how spoilt this is going to sound but really need to get it off my chest somewhere.
Up until a couple of years ago I would help my Nan with Christmas shopping, we would either go out or I’d take tablet round and help her order presents for everyone in the family. She really took care to choose things that people would like.
Another family member is now carer for her and does this for her, she tells Nan what to buy. This is generally fake designer items that probably wouldn’t be worn even if real.
I know IABU and should be grateful for anything but it seems such a waste. Nan could spend a third of the cost on a nice box of chocolates/books/high street clothing that would probably be more appreciated. I also struggle with who has probably made these items and what it is funding. It makes me feel uncomfortable every Christmas/birthday.
