Poor him. So painful.

Half a teaspoon of salt dissolved in half a glass of warm water. Rinse round inside mouth for a few minutes. Repeat 3 times daily.

Also, sleep with head elevated so blood flow doesn't worsen throbbing pain.

Really hope he can get relief from painkillers, and that you can both enjoy some parts of Xmas.

I second salt water rinse and other options follow:

Rinse with vodka or gin for 30 seconds or as long as you care, then you have the option to swallow or spit. 😂

Oil of cloves

I found a hot water bottle wrapped in towel pressed against jaw soothing.

Strangely biting down on a segment of fresh orange was agony for a few seconds bit then gave marvellous relief,

Otc pain relief paracetamol and ibuprofen .

God the pain can be so awful!

Neat vodka/gin.

I've got Christmas anxiety. Stayed up to do teen stockings and now can't sleep, so I am doing some cleaning while listening to gruesome true crime podcasts!

I had this a few Christmases ago and it was terribly painful, and personally didn’t improve at all until I got antibiotics. I would be on the phone trying to emergency antibiotics asap as it can worsen - my face started swelling up! Sorry not to scare you, I would just insist on getting antibiotics before Tuesday - that’s all that really works

I used oragel for numbing. I think they say to avoid heat as it can bring the infection out and make it worse. Also pain killers and corsadyl.
You could ring 111 for dentist for an emergency appointment?
