Ok, so I started this same thread last year.

This is for all the adults sitting up waiting for their children to fall asleep so they can fill stockings.

Last year my DD could not get to sleep and I was up for hours after I was ready for bed waiting for Santa time.

So who's still waiting? How are you doing?

I was expecting this to be me. DC 16 & 13 are usually up til midnight...

9:30pm they both announced they were tired and needed an early night.

Never. Happened. In. Years.

Santa shall be tucked up in bed very shortly.

Similar in my house though I have not long got into bed, the autistic Duracell bunny was first asleep, he usually is the last one in the house to go to sleep.

It was much worse when they were younger, especially as at the time we lived in a house with the stairs in the lounge and always had an ear out for a small person to suddenly appear halfway down the stairs and catch us.

My 7yo and 5yo just walked merrily into my room carrying their stockings thinking it’s morning….definitely put those stockings out too early! Now the question is will they be able to get back to sleep….

SeenAndNot · 25/12/2022 01:17

Still not done the stockings as dc1 woke up and still awake. So tired!

NosyNeighbour22 · 25/12/2022 01:21

Finally got mine done, went to bed remembered about the bloody mince pie, went back downstairs chucked mince pie and fed the carrot to the Guinea pigs. Now I can go to sleep at last.. probably not for long though!

Letthekidsplay · 25/12/2022 03:01

Just finished - good luck to those still waiting / working

estellacruella · 25/12/2022 03:10

I just done a quick peep and my 11 year old ds is still awake. I am so exausted waiting on him finally falling asleep

JiffLemon · 25/12/2022 03:12

Just delivered stockings to the teens and set the table for breakfast. One has been working all day and back at work tomorrow, so only have a small window of opportunity for festivities!

TinfoilTwat · 25/12/2022 03:20

Stockings in the living room here.
DH last night said to me that dd had only just cleaned her teeth and we probably ought to wait 10 more minutes in case she hears us rustling. I pointed out that she's 16 and has quite likely guessed that it's us, not Santa by now. Poor man looked quite crestfallen. He had to agree I was probably right, but had never really thought about it!

Geppili · 25/12/2022 03:26

Phew just dome my teens' stockings! The dog knows full well they are stuffed with chocolate and treats so he is lurking around like Rudolph. I'm perfecting my house cleaning now as I can't sleep. My ultra observant sister is coming tomorrow. Last time she stayed she proudly told me that she had hoovered all my ceilings of cobwebs. 😂

UnaLength · 25/12/2022 03:28

I'm awake thanks to the alarm I set. Went into DS's room with his stocking and he sat up and saw me.

This is not terrible. He's 15 in January! I still do it though!

2anddone · 25/12/2022 03:46

This year I am away with my dc 17 and 14 sharing a hotel room. Stockings have been left out and I am hoping to get up early enough to fill them before they wake!!

Roo84 · 25/12/2022 03:46

Got home from work at 2.30am...DS 6 immediately sprang out of bed...
Have managed to sort downstairs but stocking is outside his room atm...
I'm currently in bed with him in his room as he's now scared of Santa coming and doesn't want me to leave him....ffs!!! Why?!! Other DC will wake at 6am so I'm heading to the zero sleep club tonight!

EmpressaurusOfWitchesBackFromTheDead · 25/12/2022 04:18

There were fireworks near here at about 11 for some random reason. I was thinking how pissed off parents would be on this night in particular.

Bunnycat101 · 25/12/2022 04:36

I ended up asking mine up at 1 so has to stay up. I think I’ve had so much coffee/nervous energy I can’t now sleep. Little one will probably be up at 6 so tomorrow will be a day of sleep deprivation and lots of coffee.

AllotmentTime · 25/12/2022 04:46

We’ve done stockings by the fireplace but both DC have now woken up again. DS (6) has been up since 3.30 but hopefully will drop off again eventually. DD (9) has form for insomnia so I don’t fancy her chances but at least she can still be reasonably okay on very little sleep, as we now know from experience!!

I will be pretty knackered but DH is in charge of lunch and MIL will help him, so hopefully i can get a nap at some point…… 😫😫😫

Blanketpolicy · 25/12/2022 04:53

I remember it well when ds was little.

It doesn't get easier by the way, couldnt sleep tonight until ds(18) got back from clubing at nearly 4am. Then made the mistake of asking him how his night was and he wanted to open his presents! So just getting to bed now. I guess the good news is he wont wake till mid afternoon! 🤣

Now they are late teens/ early 20s... I do them in the morning before they get up. I suspect they know it is me...😁

Same. It’s great

RedHelenB · 25/12/2022 05:35

This was why mine went under the tree.

Does anyone else not sleep well worrying about break ins on Christmas Eve too?

I used to, particularly when it was years when they got bikes and they were on display by the tree

We just put an empty pillow case under the tree and had the filled one in a cupboard, took 2 seconds once our child was in bed to put it under tree before we went to bed

I don't see why it needs to be complicated
