Nope.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 24/12/2022 17:46

It's a family tradition to shout at 3pm 'Time for the QUOON' (originated from an ancient Two Ronnies sketch).

I will have to shout 'Time for the KONG' this year.

BaublesandBangles · 24/12/2022 17:47

I will miss my mum tomorrow. I will be sad about that.

The Queen meant nothing to me.

dizzydizzydizzy · 24/12/2022 17:48

No, I've never seen it.

SomeCommonThing · 24/12/2022 17:49

Nope. Never watched it.
The only sad thing is that the monarchy didn't end with the death of the Queen.

It's going to be a bit odd to be avoiding the King's speech instead of avoiding the Queen's speech but it's not something that I feel sad about.

Classinglass · 24/12/2022 18:06

Nope, I’ve never watched a Queens speech ever & I’ll certainly not be starting now with Charlie.

Snowdropsarelovely · 24/12/2022 18:07

Yes, it will seem odd

I don’t think the royal family are racist at all

🙄

jamoncrumpets · 24/12/2022 18:08

Never watched it in my life. Couldn't care less.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/12/2022 18:08

I've never actually watched it...

Pedallleur · 24/12/2022 18:09

No. Never watched it but I once read the BBC had them all archived (why?) so maybe they could put them on iplayer and let people binge watch them. Prob interesting to see what she spoke about every few years.

704703hey · 24/12/2022 18:10

I don't normally watch it, just clock soundbites in the press.

I'm mildly interested in what Charles has to say though.

PacificallyRequested · 24/12/2022 18:12

Never watched it once in my 42 years so nope, no sadness here!

asblackasyoursoul · 24/12/2022 18:14

No. Not at all, whatsoever.

EngTech · 24/12/2022 18:14

Life goes on but Charles is now King

A case of the Queen is dead, long live the King

As it has for generations

That's the best way to look at it, it's been that way since Alfred the Great.

I'm surprised how quickly I've got used to there being a King instead of a Queen. "God Save The King" took a few runs through to get used to it but now it sounds more naturally than "God Save The Queen".

I've even redone the Sex Pistols version in my head, it now runs "God save The King, the facist regime" (pronounced "ray-jim") which more or less rhymes. "We mean it ma'am" is easily replaced by "We mean it man."

Violashift · 24/12/2022 18:22

Not watched it once.

More sad about my Nanna. The energy bill is more sad than some woman I never met.

YouScumbagYouMaggotHeresKevinTheCarrot · 24/12/2022 18:23

To paraphrase Peep Show Don't worry about them because they sure as hell don't give a fuck about you.

i can't believe people were stupid enough to listen to a ridiculously rich lady wanging on about poverty and how hard times are for the nation each year.

But the good news is Charles can Wang on her place.

Let me let you in on a little secret op. The rf wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

Hbh17 · 24/12/2022 18:28

It is very sad, I agree, and will feel very odd. But I have no doubt that The King will do a good job - he is actually a more relaxed and comfortable speechmaker/broadcaster than The late Queen.

Alfur · 24/12/2022 18:29

No. Never watched it, won't watch him either. Down with the monarchy.

TarasHarp55 · 24/12/2022 18:29

No I'll feel sad I no longer have my parents, but I never watched the queen's speech anyway. I always presumed it was empty words written by someone else pretending that the queen cared about us.

topcat2014 · 24/12/2022 18:32

Strong republican vibes on this thread...

But I, will be sorry it is no longer the Queen.

I will watch Charles as I'm interested to see his first speech.
