Christmas dinner

Plan for this year was for me to host and cook. Bought all nice table decorations, had nice games for the kids planned out, puddings etc I was going to make from scratch. I ended up with the dreaded cold/flu and only today I've managed to actually get out of the house and feel human. My mum rang last night and said she will do Christmas at hers and arranged with family since I was ill.
Now I'm extremely great full for her offering and arranging etc.
But now I'm feeling better I feel gutted I'm not hosting.
Would I be unreasonable to say I will now host?

Yeah just let her do it, otherwise you cross the line into “pissing about” territory

Yeah I agree , let your Mum do it . There is plenty more Dinners you can do .

Could you not host on another day? Boxing Day? Or have people round mid-week?

Do a meal another day eg. New Year’s Day
its great you feel better and your mum sounds lovely

Mum is an Angel.
Unfortunately Christmas is one of the few days my family gets together due to us living in different cities and work commitments etc.
