Don't reply to it. You'll put your number on an active scam list and just get more.

Yep. Can't think of a witty reply, but their next text will be "can you lend me £xx". Dont do it.

My dad got one of these! Totally panicked and called me luckily

I had 1 of those this evening as well.

It's a scam. They'll get you to text the other number pretending to be your daughter then ask you to transfer some money because they've lost their purse blah blah blah. Don't reply.

"You... you... you're alive? After all these years?"

"Don't expect me to come fetch you after what you said to our Doreen last night. Who's this friend, can they lend you the £50 you owe me for for the lampshade?"

How did you get phones past the prison officers? Hope you haven't been smuggling contraband in your orifices again!

C'mon guys, the OP knows it's a scam, that's why they want a witty reply.

I'm always tempted to reply, saying something along the lines of how impressed I am that you've learned how to read, write and purchase a phone at only 3 years old. But it really is best to not engage with scum, as all scammers are.

If its a cold call about a recent accident I ask how did they know? I was in a crash so bad that I died in it and surely that's a big pay out?

My dad says his big accident was sneezing with diarrhoea and he needs the compo for the dry cleaning.

Although they nearly caught my mum out with this one,

I get that you want a witty response, but the reality is that they sell your number on to others as a verified human. It really is best to ignore and delete.
