Forgive me Christmas for I have sinned

I made jacket potatoes with beans as a side for dinner tonight. Realised I had run out of cheese for topping and so I opened the Christmas cheese selection box to use the cheddar from that. Obviously using any food designated as Christmas food before Christmas is strictly forbidden! AIBU?

Tell me your Christmas sins...

Lol we did the Christmas shop on Weds, and all Christmas snacks are fair game from then on. I opened the Boursin today, and am currently sampling the orange sloe gin we bought at a Christmas market. You can only eat so much on one day.

Perfectly good excuse but not really needed - we are out both Christmas Day and Boxing Day!! Be eating other peoples food and treats 😜So ours is fair game!!

I think this is reserved, almost devout behaviour. Christmas admires your willpower! If they are ungiven gifts they are fair game!

I’m glad. Because DP has just opened box number 3 🫣😬

mamaduckbone · 23/12/2022 22:27

Once work has finished for Christmas the Christmas food is fair game, surely? We did only crack the quality street tonight, which is probably a record.

Mince pies get hit on as soon as they are out of the oven. I made an extra dozen this year just for that reason.

CPL593H · 23/12/2022 22:30

Forgive me Christmas for I have sinned. Tonight I fed DH a slice of the Boxing Day game pie as soon as it arrived from the much delayed delivery as I was harrassed and could not be bothered to cook.

I might have opened a bottle of port as well.

1983Louise · 23/12/2022 22:31

Since beginning of December I've eaten four bags of chocolate pennies that I've bought for my granddaughters stocking 🙈.

FairyBatman · 23/12/2022 22:33

susiesuelou · 23/12/2022 20:57

I opened the "Christmas chocolates" last weekend 😂 In my defence, DP bought a large box of Roses AND a large box of Heroes, and declared them both to be "the Christmas chocolates" and then put them on a high shelf in the kitchen. I decided we didn't need two Christmas chocolates. He still doesn't know as I've left the box in situ but eaten at least half since last weekend 😂

Pour them all into a bowl and he'll never know Xmas Grin

CPL593H · 23/12/2022 22:39

Having been dragged up to not touch a solitary Christmas Thing before 25/12, my rationale is there's always far too much and starting earlier saves waste. Or something.

JustAnotherManicMomday · 23/12/2022 22:40

Dp ate all the large tin of quality streets he got from work for Christmas. I was OK with that they were his.

However what I didn't knoe until earlier today is he topped that tin up with the tub I had hidden at the back of the kitchen cupboard for Christmas day. The shops are sold out.

Anyone willing to give me an alibi if i murder him? He didnt even save me any of the good ones.

Mossstitch · 23/12/2022 22:40

Lost count of the times I've had to 'replace' the maltezers bought for xmas rocky road🤷

FusionChefGeoff · 23/12/2022 22:42

No it's ok - DH has finished work therefore, in the words of Noddy Holder...

Iiiiiiits Chriiiiiissssttmaaaass!!

We're already half a box of fancy biscuits and an indecent amount of Quality Street down

Eyesopenwideawake · 23/12/2022 22:43

I was given a small Christmas cake by a neighbour 2 weeks ago. I ate it, so bought another one from her last Friday. Finished it today. Was fucking delicious!

ThereIbledit · 23/12/2022 22:47

The poshest mince pies mysteriously disappeared between yesterday and today 😳

I may be on my exercise bike right now trying to reduce the damage...

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 23/12/2022 21:25

I opened the Christmas Baileys in like, October.

I like your style

Unglamorousgranny · 23/12/2022 22:50

I polished off my advent calendar early instead of doing it properly. Is that an Xmas sin too?

Twwodoorsaway · 23/12/2022 22:57

It’s Friday, we have finished work till Boxing Day, the DC (adult) who are visiting are off to see friends. We have drunk a couple of bottles of Christmas wine and eaten one of the small M and S boxes of chocolate Brazils. Which we only buy at Christmas as they are positively evil and make you eat them. I have zero regrets.

We have try rest of the extended family arriving tomorrow and I can’t wait. As last year covid ruined it all. I possibly love everyone at present.

Thunderpunt · 23/12/2022 23:03

I also need to know what Treeslets are?

Mummyto2rugrats · 23/12/2022 23:03

Got a tube of roses November on offer had to replace with weeks later when not on offer.
Luckily food shop actually coming tomorrow so no chance of eating the Christmas goodies coming before I'm allowed to this year 😂

SkylightSkylight · 23/12/2022 23:08

ClarathecrosseyedLioness · 23/12/2022 20:58

I made two dozen mince pies this morning and now there are only 12 left and I feel queasy.
I can't understand it 🤔

@ClarathecrosseyedLioness

what a mystery?! I don't think you'll ever get to the bottom of that one!!

A cup of hot tea should help with the queasy feeling though.

DailyMailReporterTellMeAllYourSecrets · 23/12/2022 23:09

All the Quality Streets are gone and our punishment was that there were none left in either of the Sainsburys that we visited 😢

Thunderpunt · 23/12/2022 23:03

Treeslets are what used to be cheeselets which were square!! Just cut in a tree shape to be festive!! Still taste good whatever shape they are!!

I'm pretty sure this is illegal.

We had eaten the entire bag of Lebkuchen by Saturday... For shame! 😳

takealettermsjones · 24/12/2022 12:47

I bought a fancy homemade stuffing from a deli instead of making it.

I have not baked a single thing.

I was given some Quality Street so I swapped them for the Heroes I'd bought for someone else, and I kept the Heroes (clearly the superior selection).

h0rsewithn0name · 24/12/2022 12:53

I made cheese straws and mini quiches this morning. Sadly a number got broken when putting them on the rack, so they had to be removed. I can't possibly serve damaged goods.

Tel him they don't put as many chocolates in the box as they used to.😀
