Not been paid - again

Not an AIBU but posting for traffic.

Feeling very sad tonight. For the umpteenth time, I have not been paid on time. This has been a regular occurrence since starting my job. Payday is usually xx of each month but this month not only did I need to check when it would be as it falls over Xmas, I also haven't been paid today as informed I would be.

I have downloaded a payslip, but nothing has been credited to my account and complete radio silence from the person who pays my wages. No response to my email, no call, no explanation.

Luckily not completely reliant on my wages, but even so, still very disappointing. I like my job and don't want to have to start job hunting again, but enough is enough.

Merry fucking Christmas Sad

This was part of the reason my OH left his last job. We lost trust with the company. It was definitely a cash flow problem which rings alarm bells as it is, as you would think their priority would be to pay their staff on time (and in full!) Sorry you’re going through this at Christmas.

@Yea thanks. Pretty sure not a cash flow problem - just useless people.

While those who pay me are no doubt having a joyful Christmas, I'm laying in bed crying as I really could have done with the money being paid on time.

I hate hearing stories about dodgy accountancy on MN (as an accountant)! Hope it sorts

Inca22 · 23/12/2022 20:55

I'm so sorry OP, that's incredibly shit and those useless people shouldn't sleep at night knowing they've fucked up someone's Christmas. Sending you lots of love and a new job for the new year xx

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 23/12/2022 20:56

Me too! Hope it helps to know you’re not alone.

Yea · 23/12/2022 20:57

They sound awful and deserve to lose good staff if this is how they treat them. So stressful. I hope the money clears soon xx

catgirl1976 · 23/12/2022 21:00

If you are employed tell them it is an illegal deduction from wages (late payments count)

Not much help to you now but might make them realise they can’t do this and you do I’ve some redress

i hope you find a new job in the new year with a competent company who value you

LimeTwists · 23/12/2022 21:05

Totally unacceptable. I would look for another job and I’d be clear about why. If you feel you can’t find the energy to job hunt for whatever reason, it’s really important that you talk to the most senior person in the company about this because you could get into all kinds of trouble with rent / mortgage / other bills / overdraft etc if your entire wage is late. It’s appalling.

Late payments probably only counts if it's after the contractual date, which OP says falls over Christmas.

catgirl1976 · 23/12/2022 21:13

Probably not the OP says not being paid on time is a regular occurrence - if so I would be raising the illegal deductions and possibly hinting at constructive dismissal (if you have the service). Might get them to behave a bit better but it does sound like a new job with a decent company is the way forward. So sorry OP they sound terrible

Thank you everyone for your responses.

@Staygoldponyboystaygold yes, helps to know I'm not alone Flowers

DH is appalled that this has happened again, especially at Christmas.
