Is it the Yankee wax melt causing my headache??!

I shouldn’t put it on as I always forget to turn it off.

A while ago I plugged it in a forgot about it. The next day I had an awful sharp stabbing headache. Realised it was turned on still from the day before. Unplugged it.

2 days ago I thought I’d switch it on for an hour, last night had piercing pain around my left eye and forehead - realised Yankee thing was still turned on!

im going to get rid of it now as I clearly can’t be trusted with them but has anyone else had this headache effect with them?

Funnily enough, I had a wax melt on earlier and had a headache within 5 mins! Blew the candle out and was fine within 10. May be a coincidence though.

Yep. It's the only brand I have ever reacted to, it's bizarre. Also react to lilies - splitting headache, watery eyes. As soon as they were removed - headache gone.

They’re full of awful chemicals. Look into healthy non toxic candles

This is why I’m finding it hard to believe, I don’t react to stuff like this normally!

And funnily enough my eyes have been stinging and watering all day, I didn’t connect the two !

It really wouldn't surprise me, I've found I'm getting quite intolerant of fragranced things as I get older.

Yeah I don't react to anything ever - except for Yankee candles and lilies! It took a few goes of having lilies in the house before I realised they drive me nuts!!

Funny you should say that. I was out today and on the bus a girl sat next to me with perfume on that seemed really overpowering. Then on the way back it was a man who sat next to me the same. I feel like my sinuses are screaming with strong scents it's horrible.

Was it a cinnamon one? They often have something in people are allergic too. I had a really fancy diptique one once that I got a headache with:(

Coconut I think! It was a present last Christmas and I’ve only just found it, don’t suppose they go out of date do they? 😂

I've heard scented candles and wax melts are something to be avoided for all the hidden chemicals that are covered by the word fragrance!

They’re full of artificial chemicals and scents and it’s horrendous for you. Artificial fragrance is the new second hand smoke. It’ll kill you and your body is telling you so.

My dd went through a Yankee candle phase years ago
id end up with a cracking headache but the black cherry one would make me so ill I’d vomit
as soon as she gave them up,I was fine again

i won’t have them in the house anymore

I've had a lot of different scented yankee candles and I've only ever experienced headaches from one particular scent. Happens every time but just on that 1.
