To worry about this

I'm a bit of a germaphobe and worry a lot about my kids health. Hate hate hate being sick or them being sick or dealing with sick.
Anyway I was out today in a cafe with my 9 month old and needed to change her. She was pawing around and touching the changing board as they do and because I was stressed and had my hands full I didn't think to wipe it down beforehand.
She then started putting her hands in her mouth (again as they do) and older dc gave her a chip to suck on which she obviously handled before eating.
I'm really worried now in case she picks up some sort of bug before Xmas. I hate changing her in public for this reason but am usually more careful about sanitising. Is this something to worry about? Help!

No. Nothing to worry about.

She might pick something up anywhere, your older child being the most likely culprit, particularly if they are in childcare! So no I wouldn't worry about this.

No it's not.

I have to admit when my DC were babies I felt exactly the same. Similar things happened in that they put their hands in their mouth straight away and I would worry they’d get a stomach bug or similar, it never happened. So try not to worry.

Thanks guys. I know logically germs are on everything but a changing table is just yuck.

Far better for her to be doing that than have an overly sterile environment. Children need contact with disgusting things to build their immune systems. You'll do her no favours by not exposing her to things op!
