My friend of 16 years has 2 kids (I have none yet )
Every Christmas ,birthday I get them something
This year money isn't as available as it once was but I got them something
I got them pjs from M&S each which were £12 a pair (she said they didn't need toys ) and a selection box each.
For my friend I got her a £20 gift card for our local shopping centre and a box of chocs
And it's her sons birthday Xmas day so I got him a birthday card and put £10 in

Anyway I gave her them and she said
"Eeeee not as much as usual from you Lucy"
And laughed
Now I don't know if she was joking or being serious
Now I'm worried I was stingy
Was I ?

No you were not.

She's being a cheeky cow. Don't bother next year. Tell her you're not doing gifts from now on.
Ungrateful bitch (her, obvs)

jtaeapa · 22/12/2022 18:52

She is rude

That's a lovely gift and she was bit rude really. I'd be chuffed with a generous gift like this.

Seriously! What a cheeky bitch. You should have said something like actually I've not got a lot of spare cash just now but maybe u were in shock. I'd be fuming if I were u and actually quite hurt. Even if it was meant as a joke, which I don't think it could have been. Think she may have said it jokingly but getting her point across.

You just handed over almost £60 of gifts, she's being very mean.

If I opened gifts from someone and thought they spent less than they usually do, I'd imagine they were saving up/cutting back or simply unable to afford more this year. I would as any normal person would thank you for the gifts and say nothing!

I feel sad that you’re second guessing yourself. You are quite obviously a generous and thoughtful friend unlike your greedy, cheeky fucker friend.

BlastedPimples · 22/12/2022 19:17

Is she like this on other ways?

Murdoch1949 · 22/12/2022 21:53

She was very rude and you should tell her how much she upset you.

homeishere · 22/12/2022 22:04

She’d get nowt from me next year.

DrManhattan · 22/12/2022 22:06

Your mate is well rude.

determinedtomakethiswork · 22/12/2022 22:24

She's horrible! She has no social skills and is very grabby.

inthedeepshade · 22/12/2022 22:33

Surely she said that in jest/sarcastically? No one would be that rude to a friend.

miniaturepixieonacid · 22/12/2022 22:33

That's so rude. Even if she was 'joking' it's still terrible.

I've bought my friends' children books! 😬

And I haven't spent more than £8 on any of my family except my mum, sister and brother in law. Even theirs only add up to about £40 each. I have money but that's how it's always been in my family - don't see the point in big gifts.

Workinghardeveryday · 22/12/2022 22:48

What a cheeeekkkkyyy cow!!! No, you were not stingy in the slightest.

She is incredibly rude.
