Vomiting in a hotel room

Brunelofbrio · 20/12/2022 22:56

Posting here for traffic. M away with 2 DCs on my own. DD has just projectile vomited around the room. WTF is the etiquette here? We’re in a premier inn if that makes any odds - do I call reception? Mop it up with towel and hope for the best?

any help ? Please

Call the reception.

I would phone reception and ask for cleaning products to clean up the mess (but don’t expect them to do it)

Call reception so they can access proper cleaning stuff.

Mop up as best you can with loo roll (into the loo). Call reception for bedding etc

DD once threw up on a hotel bed. We striped the sheets off and let reception know. We were happy for DD to share our bed but someone came with a whole new mattress and set of sheets for her and took the dirty mattress away.

I’d call reception and would not try and clean it myself. They will want professional cleaners to do that. They won’t want you to grind vomit into carpet or attempt to wipe off soft furnishings. And it’s unfair really, even if you do get it slightly clean, it won’t be to hygiene standards for a hotel. They will have to call professionals in. Just throw towels over the vomit to mitigate and call reception.

I’d pay a cleaning fee and ask to be moved to another room unless DD is sick and going to vomit more. Often a child will vomit from over-heating or excitement and it’s a one off. Only you know which it is- tummy bug or one off.
