Womens aid

I would have put this under chat but I couldnt find it. Circumstances have led to me finding myself in a bit of a controlling situation, without somewhere to go and without much money, I'm not asking for money I'm just saying how it is. I'm used to my independence. I've been in contact with womens aid and they have referred me to womens aid in areas that are suitable for me and can meet my needs. Ive contacted them via email and they have said they need to do an assesment in person or over the phone which I cant do as the person i need to get away from would over hear. Ive explained that but they are insistant I need to leave first so I can make the calls or go in, which I'm not prepared to do, I'm not prepared to be homeless/temp accomodation without a gaurunteed space at a womens shelter. Ive spoken to the police who have said that the temporary accomodation is full of alcoholics and people on drugs. I feel trapped.

If you were to say you had a GP appointments, would the person you're escaping let you go alone (either be in the room alone or go to the surgery)? If so, you could make an appointment with your GP (do an online consultation explaining the situation) and call from there.

If you can't even speak on the phone, it sounds like a hostel with addicts would still be better. I stayed in some absolute dumps when I left home due to abuse and my heroin and crack addicted neighbour was really just another woman struggling with a shitty hand she'd been dealt. Don't leave your belongs around and be prepared for the occasional noisy neighbour but it is far better than abuse.

Are you allowed to go to the shops alone? Or maybe a shopping centre, where you could nip to the loo to make a call?

@ChopSuey2 @HirplesWithHaggis I dont get a private moment to myself the GP appointment I have is in January, I can only speak on emails where I cant be heard

If you email/do an online form your GP and explain the situation I am 99% sure they would give you an appointment very quickly so you can come in to make the call. You can tell the person you're leaving that the GP had a cancellation. I'm not a GP, but I've made similar appointments so women can speak to/meet with a DV charity.
