No it’s been blocked because of this 40 sale
they have told me that
it’s nothing to do with that
I sold some specialist equipment as I’m utterly broke at the moment it’s not a business.

Which, if it is part of a lot of deposits from Paypal, looks like you are running a business. You said it's your legitimate income, which does suggest business use and if you've said that to them, they will suspect you even more. If they are blocking access to all PayPal deposits it sounds like it's more than just a couple of sales.
Besides which, if this person paid by PayPal, your bank wouldn't get involved in any disputes. The person disputing would have been told to contact them as the third party processor.
You haven't said how they paid. If they paid by bank transfer and you have got a lot of random bank transfers into your account, that also looks like business use. They wouldn't block your PayPal deposits over a bank transfer though.

Sounds like your account has been blocked for business use and nothing to do with the Facebook transaction. This is against the terms of the account and it will probably be closed.

You can have a private account as a business account, it isn't illegal (for want of a better word)

It depends on the terms of your account. Santander accounts specifically say "no business use". They can and do close accounts over it. I worked for them for a long time, I've seen it happen a lot. They are not the only bank to do this. Some banks will turn a blind eye for years and then suddenly someone finds their account closed and a cheque in the post.

I’m confused. You said on another post it was your income.

It’s not my permanent income just some money I was trying to gather for Christmas
sorry for the confusion

I have
they insisted on paying bank transfer
it isn’t a permanent income just something I’ve done over the past month to keep my head above water.

Has the item been delivered now?
Did they pay by PayPal or bank transfer?
Sounds like they are trying to work out if you're scamming people and using your santander account to do so

Ah okay.
I have a regular account I use for business, they have known that since I set it up.
Hopefully that will spare me from having it closed.
I don't need the "benefits" of a business account, so loathe to pay for one.

Depends what you mean by "they know" as to whether your account will ever flag up. Mentioning it to a customer service advisor on the counter for example is meaningless as they won't have put a note on your account.
There are plenty of free business accounts available these days.

It sounds like there are a lot of unusual transactions and they will want to check on that. They have to, it isn't just to annoy you. In future insist on PayPal.

Maybe the buyer is suspected of money laundering and you've ended up involved with it.

If the bank suspect foul play on your part they are not going to tell you this.
Anyway, hope you get it sorted.
