to want dh to shut the stair gate

I know I'm being unreasonable but he constantly forgets to shut the stair gate. We just have the one on the living room door and he never shuts it unless I say shut it as he goes out the room. His excuse is he is a man and men are forgetful!!!

Get a self-closing one.

And no, YANBU.

kayzr · 02/02/2008 18:52

You can borrown DS1 - he said to me today, "Mummy, you didn't shut the stair gate! DS2 might've climbed up the stairs and then fallen down them and hurt himself!" indignantly.

The fact DS1 was sitting on the bottom step when I went past him and likes shutting stair gates...

I came down a second later and he opened it for me, complete with squeaky sound effects, and said, "There you go, Mummy, I opened the stair gate for you!" I said thank you, he said, "You're very welcome!".

He's 3.9yo and more sensible than me...!

That would be brilliant. Ds loves the stair gate, he goes straight for it when he is playing so he can pull himself up. Thats what worries me so much the fact it seems to be his fave toy lately and if its not shut

I mean that borrowing hunkers ds1 would be brilliant.
IS he ok?

My dh forgets to do this as well. DD2 is always on the lookout for a means of escape! (understandable in the popcorn household)
