To ask family to not post photos of child online

I'm about to be a ftm and my family in law are very active on Facebook and social media. I feel that privacy is very important and don't like the idea that my baby's childhood will be all over social media. Aibu to ask family not to post pictures online as I feel that if my child wants all those pictures publicly available they can decide that themselves when they are older.
My dh understands where I'm coming from but doesn't feel as strongly about it as I do.
I know I won't be able to ask that everything is taken off but limited would be appreciated.

Yabu= let them post what they want. It's not worth the agro.
Yanbu= tell them how you feel

My friend was in the news recently, with a posed picture of her kids.

It gave me a weird twist to see it, because my mum was a lifestyle journalist, and I remember the constant photoshoots, and the cringeworthy things she used to publish about us.

She was by no means a household name, but as children we were still recognised and CONFRONTED in public.

I only thank heaven that this was all firmly pre-Internet. No child of mine will be plastered on the Internet.

Photos are something to think about but it definitely isn't at the forefront of my mind like it was 3months ago!

You're not being unreasonable at all. You can't really police it though especially as they get older, just make it known to everyone and do the best you can. Congratulations.

Someone disrespected that rule in a family in my town. The photos were shared around until the wrong person got hold of them. Both the child and its mother were then abused, requiring hospital treatment. All because someone thought it wouldn't happen.

YANBU - I was exactly the same. You call the shots on this, not them, remember that!
