Is Elaine Paige's giggle real or affected?
Is it becoming her "thing"?
It really spoils the show for me.

I read this as electronic point of sale

cant stand Elaine Paige

TheOrigRights · 18/12/2022 13:37

I think she is a talented musician and I love musical theatre so I do enjoy the show if I'm around, but honestly the giggle really makes me wince.

Fake I suspect !

masterbakeoff · 18/12/2022 20:04

Radio 2? I had to turn it off. Just awful.

Ocrumbs · 18/12/2022 20:05

I too thought this was about electronic point of sale

Purpleavocado · 18/12/2022 20:07

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was a till.

SpamandSparkle · 18/12/2022 20:08

I always thought she'd been on the gin a bit too early on in the day

GetOffTheRoof · 18/12/2022 20:12

Can't stand the woman. Never liked her shrill singing either.

It's a shame as her programme is a great idea, just needs a new presenter....

Iknownothing · 18/12/2022 20:15

It’s honestly the reason I don’t listen - live the music can’t stand the laugh - it makes me cringe

secretfreckle · 18/12/2022 20:18

So so affected.
It really spoils it for me. I think she must think it's endearing. It's really not.
Sara Cox also plays her laugh sometimes on her show. Just NO!!

Pothoswithasparkle · 18/12/2022 20:20

I wondered since does till system giggle.
I assume epos here means something different 😂

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/12/2022 20:22

I think it probably started as a natural giggle, but then someone said it was charming so she turned it up a bit, then a bit more...now it's clearly an affectation and fairly excruciating but I wouldn't say fake exactly.

ClaudiusTheGod · 18/12/2022 20:47

“And this next track features little old me”
argghhhh!!

PonyPatter44 · 18/12/2022 21:00

Shes always done it. It was quite sweet when she was young but as a PP said, it just sounds affected now.

PumpkinLumpkin · 18/12/2022 21:02

Dear God. I've never heard her laugh so I googled to see what everyone's talking about.

Yikes.

scrumpledtitskin · 18/12/2022 21:11

Oh thank goodness it's not just me, I have stopped listening as I just can't bear it. So affected and annoying

ChristmasJingleBalls · 18/12/2022 21:17

I thought this was going to be about shops.

Essexgirlupnorth · 18/12/2022 21:18

It is annoying the show isn't live so could well be on the gin when she records it. Really enjoyed Samantha Barks sitting in for her.
My usual working from home soundtrack on a Monday.

I don't think her voice is particularly shrill, more at the deeper end I'd say, though she does belt them out!

Her soprano voice is very shrill.... Phantom of the Opera was just awful IMO.

She can sing, obv, but I can't stand her vocal qualities - it's everything I loathe.
