I’ll go first.

I can’t help but think making someone’s rent payments eligible to prove you can pay a mortgage would go a long way to housing security for so many people. And limiting the amount of properties owned by one landlord / amount a landlord can charge in rent, would also go a long way. I can’t help but think profiteering massively off of a basic need and right such as housing is really not ok.

Im sure there’s a reason why my idea wouldn’t work, feel free to put me right 😂

What’s your idea?

I agree wholeheartedly about the mortgage issue. I've been renting for 9 years have never missed a payment and yet can't a mortgage even though it would be cheaper then what I'm paying now, it's fucking ridiculous, my landlord is selling and I desperately want a home of my own for me and my dd.

Proper affordable housing for low income families. We've had loads of supposedly affordable housing where I live which isn't anything of the sort. More help for single, working people trying to get on the property ladder.

Agree that children should start school later as in Scandinavian countries . My dd was only just 4 when she started. It feels wrong.

I would also mean people having 3621 babies, and childminders struggling to make a living and actually do a decent job. It would mean a need for mire nurseries and minimal financial input.
Im broke but I'd rather pay and know my child is safe, learning and happy.

🙄

My husband is Swedish, children do start school at 4, it just has another name and yes, they start learning to read, write etc in mellanstediet. Very few children skip pre-school or mellanstediet.

  1. Anyone who arrives illegally should have their asylum claim processed offshore. This would deter people trafficking and reduce costs to house asylum seekers
  2. General migration should be skills based like Australia
  3. Heavily subsidised or free childcare for working parents
  4. Overhaul of benefits system making it more advantageous for claimants to be employed, even just part time
  5. NHS should be restructured and funded better. Possibly with an introduction of optional private health insurance like in Australia
  6. Ease planning regulations and red tape to allow for new homes to be built easier with government backed construction loans
  7. Introduce better schemes for first time home owners allowing anyone to purchase their own home
  8. Teach life skills in schools such as managing a budget etc along with the importance of empathy and treating people with respect from an early age
  9. Construct more nuclear power stations to reduce the need for fossil fuels and bring down the price of energy
  10. Subsidised energy program like the heating allowance for elderly and vulnerable where the government pay a percentage of a capped energy bill directly to the energy supplier

Construct more nuclear power stations to reduce the need for fossil fuels and bring down the price of energy

They cost 10s of billions and in any case, unless they are nationalised, it wont bring down energy costs as private sector will charge whatever it costs to make a large profit & electricity price is tied to gas prices.

oh and they take about 25 years to plan & then build, the SMR reactors don't exist and i even heard a Govt minister telling Kay Burley the Govt was rolling out fusion power! that is still in a Lab in the USA.
