Another raffle one...

Does anyone who where I stand on this? On Wednesday I was told I had won a prize at the school raffle and it was specified exactly what the prize was and when to collect (emailed to me) I specified that I was unable to collect until today and told that was fine.

I went to collect (had to leave work early) and they brought out a bottle of wine with my name on which was not what I was told I'd won and a lot less in value) plus, the original prize included something for my five year old which I'd told him about so cue disappointment. I explained all of this to the Receptionist but she said 'that's all that is left'. She didn't really care (the raffle was all organised by the PTA so I guess she was just the go between)

Where do I stand here? I don't feel great about making a fuss when the raffle was to raise money for my child's school but equally, i'm really annoyed and wondering where my prize went!

Drop a quick note back to whoever was organising and let them know your prize wasn’t at office when you went to collect and do they know if it’s elsewhere

If they come back and say it should have been I think you just shrug and say never mind though. It’s sucky but I wouldn’t make a massive fuss about it

Hi, sorry yeah I should've said that I have emailed them. I guess I should just wait and see the outcome of that but I'm just thinking ahead to them saying that there has been some kind of mix up and, 'oh well, sorry about that'

Yeah it's just that I had told my son was getting and that now it's missing. Just a bit sucky.

Well, if you don't make a fuss then someone on the PTA will carry on fiddling the prizes, or the school secretary will keep giving the good ones to her mates or whatever it is that has happened.

There is an expectation that any substitution in prize would be equivalent, at the very least.

Needmorelego · 16/12/2022 16:24

Offering you wine is not on.
I don't drink alcohol so purposely do not enter raffles etc where the prize is alcohol.
That's not what you won.
You unfortunately may not get your prize (if they've given it to someone else/lost it) but they should definitely apologise and not fob you off with wine.

I would make a fuss OP, and I say that as a PTA person - if a mistake has been made it is not yours & you shouldn’t have to suck it up.

Either someone has been given a prize they didn’t win (in which case get it back or PTA replaces) or someone has stolen it. Neither are your fault.
