Why would an evri driver do this?

I was wfh in my living room and saw my usual Evri courier pull up the other side of the road. I didn’t want to gawp out the window so I waited for the doorbell to go. Next thing I know, she’s driving off and I’ve received a missed delivery email with a photo of the ground and GPS location for my street!
AIBU to not understand why a courier would not be able to cross the street?!
Do they get paid for missed deliveries as well?

Do you have a similar address and number to another nearby house? Could they have got the wrong house and tried unsuccessfully there?

For example if home address is xxx Way and house on other side is same number but xxx Drive

We have a similar situation to the above example. The two number 1 houses are opposite one another, though not face in. We often get deliveries for the other house, and them for us.

She’s my usual courier and definitely didn’t go much further than the car. Odd!

I gawp and wave at the drivers frequently! They then know they can leave the parcel and don't have to wait for me to get to the door.

I once had a RM missed card, only I was in the house and saw her push it through without ringing the bell. So I went outside and said sorry I missed you and asked for the parcel. She didn't even have the fucking thing with her, I mean seriously, what the hell is wrong with the ones like this.
