To think I just witnessed a glitch in the matrix.

We had to go to 2 different shops for 2 different things. My child was being practically catatonic, which happens sometimes, so went about implementing therapy exercises to help.

This involves holding something manageable, taking it to the till, handing it over, giving the money, saying/signing yes and thank you for the receipt, and often requires extensive help and support. Point is, my child was looking very special.

When handing over the money both times my child said " The change will be X " and both times the 2 different cashiers in the 2 different shops replied with the exact same thing in the exact same tone " It is? It is! Well done mate. Aren't you good with numbers, you should be doing my job!" And my child responded the exact same way both times with a half smile while staring off into the middle distance.

I can't get across how identical the response sounded

I'm a little freaked out ngl.

It's not a religious thing I swear

Sounds to me more like it's your kid! They're hypnotizing them 😣 definitely. The smile into the distance was about getting them to say the same thing not the change. 🙂 You're welcome.

Bpdqueen · 14/12/2022 23:04

I work in a shop and I literally say about 5 different statements repeatedly depending on the situation and what they said to your son is exactly what i would of said and have said. Your pretty much on auto pilot when you work In a shop

A lot of people we encounter day to day aren't actually real, so it doesn't surprise me. That's why you never see your neighbours bringing shopping home.

My neighbours always get an Ocado delivery at 10pm on a sunday evening. i can set my clock to the annoying sound the van makes as its reversing!

Saz12 · 14/12/2022 23:09

Over the road always over-orders choc-ices every second Thursday with his Sainsbury’s delivery.
We often store them in our freezer.

RagzRebooted · 14/12/2022 23:11

Definitely wierd, OP. I'd be inclined to wonder about a strange synchronicity/echoes type effect, due to the 'hive mind' connectivity of everyone. I don't believe we're living in a simulation, but I do believe in 'woo'/telepathy.

There's a whole subreddit called Glitch in The Matrix. I've spent hours lost in there.

Mind. Blown.

Hang onnnn. I haven’t EVER seen my neighbours unloading shopping 😵

Me neither.
Maybe they are ''Breathe~arians''?

reading this thread in amused bemusement til I got to the post about never seeing your neighbours bring shopping home and now I’m convinced I’m in a simulation 😂

Selling petrol?

Nah I've seen my neighbours bringing their shopping in loads of... Wait. Oh my god. They're all bots.

SeenAndNot · 14/12/2022 23:19

Your child is gifted? Is their name Neo?

Tinselpipes · 14/12/2022 23:21

Also, for all those who have never seen their neighbours bring shopping home - have you ever seen them put their rubbish out?

Ohhhhhhh my god. Oh. My. God. Now you come to mention it no I've never ever seen any of them either bring shopping home or have it delivered. Omg. Gulp.

MadameMackenzie · 14/12/2022 23:23

@Cassillero York is beautiful and I can confirm it is very real as I live close to it. Wish I lived IN it!

Anyone that lives in Plymouth certainly has. Every front door is either up or down at least 10 steps so bin day is a cacophony of trundling bins and swearing neighbours.

CherrySocks · 14/12/2022 23:26

What if half the people on Mumsnet are on bots too?

CherrySocks · 14/12/2022 23:27

*are bots (not on bots)

MadameMackenzie · 14/12/2022 23:28

@EricNorthmanYesPlease I can hear that in my head right now 🙉 🚛

lightisnotwhite · 14/12/2022 23:29

My best friend of 18 years is so because she lived opposite. She always says it was seeing me get out of the car carrying a baby in one arm, five bags of shopping in the other and then going into the back to get the dog out too that swung it.
She came over to say hi and would I like wine one night. No idea what made her think I’d like that.

I often see delivery vans outside neighbours houses but I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen them receive the shopping to their house…

🤣🤣 ha ha OK well that's very trusting of them leaving you with their choc ices! I certainly wouldn't trust myself with someone elses choc ices in my freezer.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 14/12/2022 23:52

Jesus christ! Never seen my neighbours bring shopping in, never seen anyone actually put their bin out, or bring it in? I see the bins out on the street, I hear them being pulled to and fro, but never actually witnessed it?

I don't think I'm spectacularly unobservant, but I'd rather have that unwelcome wake-up call than dwell on the alternative...
