Has anyone else got this awful sickness bug?

Started with diarrhoea about 6pm last night, then I was throwing up.
Now I’m in bed shivering/sweating and aching all over 😞
i’ve only just got over tonsillitis.
I seem to pick up everything.

My 4 year old has only just got over a nasty virus, so I’m worried he’ll get this too 😭

How long did it take everyone for your appetite to return?? Currently feeling very weak but still can't stomach any food!

KnackeredHag · 16/12/2022 14:00

I’ve found my people and commiserations fellow sufferers. Started being sick 2am Thursday, only a couple of times but the aches and chills have been horrendous. Now have a horrid cough and stuffy nose and feeling majorly sorry for myself. Get well soon everyone

Chocolatedodger · 16/12/2022 19:03

@KnackeredHag

That’s exactly what I had! The sickness, aches and chills were followed by cough, sore throat and stuffy nose…which I’ve still got now. I’ve never had that follow a sickness bug before?

tiredkitten · 16/12/2022 19:33

Yes! God, I feel like I'm dying. If it's not one end, it's the other.

I'm now at the point where I want to eat, but I'm terrified of eating because I can't bear any more D and/or V. I've never suffered from such urgent D in my life.

I think the headache, eye pain and general misery are from dehydration and lack of sleep, but I have all those too.

I feel miserable. I assume I'm horribly contagious, so I am hiding indoors and wondering if I'll be able to see people for Christmas or just in general, ever again. I feel so sick that I can't see past this, which I know is wallowing a lot.

Not the only person - about half a dozen other people from work seem to have the same thing, which makes me think it's a bug. The others have similar symptoms, plus coughing.

Chocolatedodger · 16/12/2022 21:29

Has anyone else ever had cold symptoms straight after a sickness bug before? I don’t understand the connection. It’s very odd.

Yes. Had it Tuesday. It's horrendous. I hate throwing up 🤢

Hoping you feel better soon xxx

ScroogeMcDuckling · 16/12/2022 21:36

Yes

I have just recovered from this. It was awful. Diarrhoea on and off for over a week. I've never experienced anything like it, literally brown water pouring out of me. Took quite a while for my appetite to come back. I was starting to get worried there was something seriously wrong with me as the diarrhoea went on so long, but thankfully it resolved eventually.

londonrach · 16/12/2022 21:48

Didn't have the v bit but had really really bad d...like water 31 October...was I'll for two days...lost pounds...never been so I'll apart from food poisoning....didn't eat for a week after and still slightly nervous...found the d keeps returning but at least I'm not shaking now.... luckily had two mum friends who did school run for the two worse days so I could stay near the toilet...my attempt to do one school run I was ordered to return home as I looked like a ghost by a mum friend who collected DD for me.

ofwarren · 16/12/2022 21:52

My 6yo had a chest infection which was treated with antibiotics and a week later the cough is back with horrendous diarrhoea and a runny nose.
So weird.

staybyyou · 16/12/2022 21:56

I've had this too. Not the V bit luckily as I hate throwing up. It started on Wednesday and have felt achy and shaky ever since. Ive only eaten very plain beige food and keep getting horrible stomach cramps. DS2 has started vomiting this evening after falling asleep in his highchair at lunchtime, poor thing. Wonder how long it will take for the other two to come down with it Confused

Alisonscutehairflick · 16/12/2022 21:58

This sounds awful I wish you all better. We’ve all been sick with a horrible fluey thing this week and slightly dodgy stomachs I am praying we avoid this sickness bug! I think I’ll cry if qet anything else, DS got tonsilitis from nursery before half term and since then it’s been one thing after another. I am really hoping we now make it to Christmas unscathed, I am not sending DS Back to nursery for his last week even if he’s well enough!

Angrymum22 · 16/12/2022 22:06

Lots of people coming down with this locally. DS came home on Wednesday and had abdo pain and diarrhoea. He went out to celebrate his best friends eighteenth birthday last night so not sure whether he has mega hangover or the bug is still lurking.
It is probably norovirus which is often more like flu with mild stomach upset.
